Rates have gotten absurd across the board,

McDermott is almost $2600 this year and Kirkland was near $2500 for partners. A decent number of shops are over $1000 per hour for associates now. I am baffled that companies continue to pay the numbers but we are turning away business, primarily for conflict/potential conflict and smaller billables but still, it just seems insane.

Damn, son. You ain’t lying.

Where do you practice, if you don’t mind me asking? That doesn’t sound like Louisiana rates

ETA: Or we’re doing something wrong over here and need to pump these numbers up

Less than 5% of all lawyers are ambulance chasing trial lawyers. When a parent announces their child is going into Baptist seminary or Catholic priesthood, you are the guy saying, “[y]ep, another f*cking sex abusing pedophile.”

My office is in Charlotte but we are an international firm and rates vary by location. Our London office rate is MUCH lower than even our most remote offices in the US, even the Magic Circle firms don't bill squat compared to US firms.

On behalf of the legal profession let me say bullshite to that. Greed and people being shitty are why all those things are so expensive.

I am from a business family that goes back 300 years or more not a legal one. Most all the lawyers in our family were there to protect the banks etc that were owned or controlled by family members. My grandfather never had to put a contract in writing, and when he cut a deal even if it ended up costing him money through no fault of his own he honored it. I remember my uncle and him fighting one time and he said “Son none of that shite matters, I gave my word and my word is my bond. If you are good for your word then what good are you.”

He never needed a lawyer ever. Now he would be bankrupt because no one honors their word, people use lawyers and lawsuits just like Trump does as weapons, shields and business tools.
Lawyers suck because people suck

Frick the negative posts man. You should be proud. When your kid gets a college degree of any kind, you must've done something right.

lawyers are the reason for the corruption and red-tape for this good-forsaken country, especially Louisana.

someone says Ambulance Chasrers are only 5% of all lawyers, but those ambulance chasers CAUSE MAJOR trickle effect into every angle of small business obstacles & has changed society always looking for a quick check.

EVERY STATE should be like Texas, “if you sue someone and lose, you’re liable for the legal expenses”.,

if my company was in Texas, i’d leave saved over $1Million in legal fees due to frivolous BS.

But these lawyers in DC, democrat cities etc…. they create law on top of law to
where it becomes job security for them, nobody can just walk out and do anything easy anymore, there are so many traps and laws against the average small business and regular folks.

it all trickles downhill & increases the cost of all major expenses & the lawyers/court systems get over 50% of all the money that flows thru the system.

Look at Class Actions. The law firms make generational wealth on one case & the citizens get $154.38 payout, it’s ridiculous!!!

Look at chiropractors in bed with ambulance chasers, they build the files and it’s BILL BABY BILL.

it’s a racket.

i can go on & on & I have major experience in the legal circuits & Louisiana is so fricked up due to the legal system. and the Trial Attorney Lobby buys off every Governor in some shape or form. Landry ran on shutting it down. but i knew he would back out.

Lawyers and snakes are my 2 most unfavorite living things on earth, without them, the world would be a better place. they both put fangs into society one way or the other! Screw attorneys!!! maybe 10% are decent to good human beings.

but most of them are straight Sociopaths, Zero Conscious, goes to school to be able to SPIN AKA LIE better than the next one.

why is it that most likely over 90% of DC consist of Lawyers by Trade. Will spend Millions and Millions to chase a job making $150,000 year and go in with less than $1M net worth & then get nominated for certain committees and BOOM, they are living the high life.

you can’t defend this, Lawyers are the biggest racketeers in the history of mankind!!!

We’ve dreamed of our young son growing up one day, going to law school, graduating, passing the bar,

making his own jungle, the tv ads, slogans and billboards.

Running up insurance rates, causing unnecessary angst and costs.

Dream big parents.

For every 10 of these, there are 1 or 2 of us fighting to keep it lower.

Still think sports teams and colleges should ban Plaintiff Attorney ads.

I defend companies in Texas. No one gets legal fees for successfully defending a negligence case (which most personal injury cases are styled).
