I'd like to hear more about the issues with maintenance, specifically in LA where it seems to be a bit more of an issue.

For mine, 4.5 years old, 62k miles.
- Put new tires on at 33k miles. I think I could have gone another rotation, but decided to get a fresh set. So almost 30k miles on this set, but I went with a good set of Michelins and there is plenty of tread left on them.
- 2 cabin air filter changes
- Windshield wiper fluid topped off
- New set of windshield wipers
- I had an issue with the button not working to close the trunk. Mobile tech came to the house and replaced it under warranty.
Pretty basic stuff

Like every other driver.....they have to share the road with squatted trucks and lifted F-250s that weave in and out of lanes. Pretty bad deal.

honestly can't think of a single thing.
I originally thought I'd just commute in the Tesla and take road trips in the ICE car. Now, literally just drive the Tesla 24/7, I've taken it on multiple road trips. Last trip was 12 hours.
Charging on trips isn't that bad, on a long 10+ Hour road trip I needed 3 stops and it added about an hour to the trip with the extra stops. I thought I'd hate it but I very much prefer it. Love being able to set it on the charger and walk around, go grab food, restroom, stretch the legs. Charging stops never go over 20 minutes.
The one caveat on travel is having easy access at your destination, on every trip i've stayed at an Air bnb or some non hotel location and I could just plug in where I was staying. Hotel with no destination charging would be a pain in the rear.
Otherwise, I have zero complaints, i start the day on a full charge every day, havent seen a gas station or crack head in a year.

Thank you. I assume you did these things yourself, other than the tires. Is having a mobile tech come out pretty much the only way you're getting any service done on it, if needed?
Do you just go to a normal tire shop to get new tires?

What is crapola about it? Other than the looks. Thing is built like a tank and has more power tan any truck out there. You could line up next to a TRX and Raptor and dust them. Hell ol boy that was murdered in one had virtually a bomb go off inside the truck and after it was said and done in the after photos the truck looked like it took on minimal damage to the body. Any other truck would have exploded.
I'll always have a gas truck but I'd own a cybertruck as a second. Would like to get one as my company truck and wrap it.

Yes, I did those things myself. For tires, I get my rotations and I purchased my new tires at Discount Tire.
For service, you make a service request in the app. Tesla will determine if it's something that a mobile tech can do, which is my preference. If it's a larger service that requires a Tesla service center, that would have to be brought to New Orleans. I live in BR. I've heard rumors that they may be bringing a service center to BR, which would be nice.

I’m looking at the new Model Y-L for my Wife , who has a 10 min commute to work. Would be perfect for her. Unfortunately, they don’t have service centers in Louisiana, so the closest one is about 2 hours.

There isn't a lot of maintenance for EVs. I've brought my non Tesla in for maintenance mostly for software. I've also replaced tires. And I've had an alignment.

This is perhaps my biggest concern. I have heard from friends that have them that they hardly ever need any maintenance, but they never talk about repairs. Not sure how easy it would be to service one around here. I’m not exactly in a sprawling metropolis

I think a big issue is the towing capacity and performance off road, but if I recall those are fixed in the truck’s settings. You see a lot of YouTube videos showing the cybertruck failing miserably in snow or mud

The mobile tech that installed my trailer hitch lives in Baton Rouge. I think most maintenance issues can be performed by a mobile tech.

I’ve only noticed one thing that has really bothered me. The windshield is made of multiple layers of acoustic glass to keep the road noise down. Combine that with the low aerodynamic design and you get a windshield that easily collects a bunch of little chips. It gets pretty annoying snagging a new ding on your windhsield every month.

Build quality and reliability are 2 different things. Tesla has meh build quality. The paint is not great, insulation and seam sealing is meh, fasteners are insufficient, etc. I'm not saying they're bad cars. My wife drives one.

I know far more about Tesla than everyone on this board combined. I got a personal tour of Gigafactory by Elon when i did my first lease portfolio deal with them. I've dug into their data with independent engineers and understand their failure mode and rates, BESS degradation, and every other thing you can think of. I still have a log in to their production repository because I monitor the existing portfolios for the lease owners.
