Tesla Owners: What’s the Worst Part of Owning a Tesla?

Traveling is a breeze with the Tesla app; just type in your destination, and it will plan out all of the stops for you. The stops do not bother me.

The worst part is doing the arrival charge math. So let's say you are leaving for a trip to the beach and arrive on 10% charge. That is not going to allow you to use your Tesla around town for a week at your destination. You have to think about charging options at your destination. This is only a problem if you are going somewhere remote. Most places have charging stations, but do you really want to charge when you arrive? Probably not. So I usually work it out that I have enough charge to arrive, drive around town, and leave.

For the record, this has been largely solved by the "set arrival %" feature added.

The seat fricked my hip up.

We just got one, model S, and I can plug in and charge for free at work, so it makes charging less of an issue. That said, we had to stop more frequently on a recent 6 hour trip, but the full self drive made it worth the extra stop.

I own an electric BMW. Outside of charging on long trips there is only one other thing negative about it - it’s heavy. It drives great, but it damages roads and maybe even driveways. My driveway has cracks on my side but not on my wife’s side. To be clear, it isn’t the slab cracking but the pavers on top of the slab.

Other than those it is far better than any ICE vehicle I’ve ever driven. I can jump into traffic that I would not attempt in an ICE vehicle. And it’s very convenient to never stop at gas stations. I plug it into the charger in my garage and in the morning it’s 80% charged. That’s where you should limit it if you want the battery to last a long time.

So that means the range is at least 20% less than they say. The real range, is about 200 miles. It can go farther than that if you don’t mind risking running out of charge looking for a charging station, or if you charge it over 80%.

Not flaming or tripping, I’m genuinely asking.

No spare tire, also back tires wear faster.

But I’ve owned tons of vehicles and this is by far my favorite vehicle. The full self drive is amazing!
