make all 18 wheelers stay in the right lane
This should be the law on ALL four lane highways as well as trucks overall a certain weight, axle/wheel count should have to run at a reduced speed.
This works, I've witnessed it first hand in Europe.
Trucks must travel the right lane at a speed slower than "car" traffic and only use the left if they are passing ... which isn't often, then immediately go back to the right lane.

Sounds good but actually causes more problems.
Ideally you want all traffic moving about the same speed. Having trucks mandated at 10 mph or however slower than passenger cars just mucks things up. Case in point, basin bridge.

It is being used as it was intended, as primarily direct route for commerce / defense traffic (and also cars) from I-10 in Slidell to I-10 in Baton Rouge to avoid the extra mileage, time, and traffic by going through New Orleans, etc.
Although, it needs more policing. There is just not enough development / cities along the way, so the trucks just think of it as one long flat speedway. As do many of the I need to get there faster than you people too.

It's like that on I-75 in Florida, and the Troopers there take it very serious...

It feels like there are more 18 wheelers than passenger cars on i12.
That's because they're avoiding all the dumbasses on I-10 between BR and NOLA

Except with the shitty design of the I-12 and I-10 merge and then the left exit onto the bridge, that causes issues when the 18 wheelers try to move over in Baton Rouge where drivers don’t seem to know how to allow someone to merge in front of them.
There are a number of metro areas where they’ve made through truck traffic get into the left lane so as to avoid collisions at on/off ramps.

What is it that makes the stretch so dangerous. Just seems like a straight road.

I-12 Livingston is the New I-10/Lobdell 415

That will be closed awhile to repair the road.
LA interstates are a lawyer's paradise.
Truck traffic is a major cause of most of these accidents and it's only getting worse.

Okay, what about when there are exits on both sides of the interstate? Or are trucks never allowed to get off??

Come ride with me for a week. I'm not a truck driver, and I think of truck drivers as pretty low on the totem pole.
It's idiot car and truck drivers causing these wrecks.
