I think that same chart applies to every parish in Louisiana

Yep.

Small-town sheriffs do WTH they want. They oughta be term-limited to one term.

That's a fantasy. The days of Spotlight and investigative journalism are pretty much over.

I personally know of an instance where a paper was tipped and provided documents about shady shenanigans with a local elected official, and they did not do shite. If you wrote the entire article for them, they might print it.

Dove became a state rep and not 2 months after he's in office the state comes into his back yard which backs ups to Little Bayou Black and cleans out the bayou and bulkheads it. Nothing sketchy there.

Dove got all his wealth off the back of his dad, he's a fat POS.

I grew up on the other side of Bayou Black from them

Can't say I know much about him but wouldn't be shocked if he was involved in some shady dealings

Yep, the local media in general is to scared to fck with the power players as they will get their asses handed to them.

I loved when Lee Zurick and The Times Picayune had their good run 3 or 4 years ago where they were ripping politicians and police chiefs, etc a new arse. They brought down some big players in Jefferson and St. Tammany. It took lots of work and repeated articles/reports before anything got done.

If the resources were available, one could investigate every sheriff, police chief, parish president, councils, etc and I bet 75% would be at a minimum doing unethical things.

He can't touch Billy, though. Who might be the most crooked one in the state.

Is there any actual evidence that "the state" did this, or is it just a rumor. I still have family in Houma and know exactly where his house is. Why would a guy who has probably a 500k back yard take a risk of using state funds to do something very small in the grand scheme of things. Guy has a lot of money, why would someone do that when it's so easy to get caught? I feel like he may have done it on his own dime and that was just a rumor.

The power of a Sheriff in Louisiana ( or the power that they believe they have) is scary
