Police are searching for a suspect in the death of a Tennessee driver killed on Tuesday when a large chunk of concrete came crashing through his windshield.

Joe Shelton Jr., 54, was driving to work early Tuesday morning when the large piece of concrete smashed through his Nissan sports car, hitting the man in the face and sending his vehicle swerving across a Nashville highway, according to police.

quote:

Investigators with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said the concrete was likely tossed from a bridge overlooking the highway, but there’s no indication of who threw it, the police department said.

quote:

"The concrete chunk traveled through Shelton’s windshield and hit him in the face at approximately 4:54 a.m. as he was driving to work at the Nissan plant in Smyrna," the department said in a statement. "The Nissan then sideswiped a Toyota pickup truck and a guardrail before coming to final rest on I-24’s Silliman Evans Bridge."

Horrendous - I'd be willing to bet it was teenagers. Where in town did this occur? Any housing next to this highway?

This pisses me off so much. It's so senseless.

This man's life was ended, and his family left devastated, because some moron threw a large rock at this person they didn't even know for no reason.

Exactly!

The thing that I hate most about this is that it will become some trend now and more people will get hurt/killed because some a-hole thinks its funny.

This happens every now and then. Some a-hole thinks it is funny to toss stuff off an overpass not thinking that it is 95% fatal if it hits a car.

Last year in Michigan 5 teenage boys were arrested for doing this very same thing where a passenger was killed when the 6 lb. chunk of concrete crashed through the window of a van he was a passenger in and killed him after being struck in the head and chest.

As far as I know, they haven't gone to trial yet, but are all facing capital murder charges.

These POS kids all left and went to McDonald's to eat after doing that and didn't give a shite about the consequences of their actions.

4 out of 5 of them accepted plea deals. Murder charge was dropped.
