God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shite we don’t need. We’re the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War’s a spiritual war… our Great Depression is our lives. We’ve all been raised on television to believe that one day we’d all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won’t. And we’re slowly learning that fact. And we’re very, very pissed off. “

He said that men got their aggression out by watching football on the weekends, and if the powers-that-be find a way to block that outlet, it will eventually lead to the next big war.

Dumb.

If you want to piss males off to the point of war, you take away porn, not football.

Actually, it used to be Chik Fil A, like the billboards that are pretended to be written by cows, "Eat More Chiken."

I don't think you're wrong in one sense. I think a part of the reason we see so much outcry from a social aspect is largely due to the long peace. We had bigger fish to fry when we were worried about being taken over by the British, The Germans, The Germans, and Russians. Nothing is that scary to us now

Um, why in the world would the "elites" want WW3?? It seems the present condition has been benefiting them more than any other point in history.

IF I WERE A CONSPIRACY THEORIST (which I'm not), I argue that football, like the gladiators, is meant to keep a violent people docile and distracted while the top elites reach for more and more. Fill the air with sports and faux social controversies. Have the middle aged man believing that he needs to be out protesting for or against which bathroom can .006% of the population use rather than question why wages are stagnant despite the increase in productivity.

Again, I don't believe that it's the case, but it makes for a much more likely conspiracy theory than the one you posted.

A girl I know introduced me to this theory just the other day. She is very cute so I listened intently. I'll admit, I would have bet cash money that it was the Berenstein Bears, but I guess that I would also lose that money.

It's always been "Berenstain".... my grandmother bought me dozens of those books back in the day and I distinctly remember wondering as a kid why it was spelled "stain" but pronounced "steen"
