Walt had "supposed" sites for Disney World in several different states. Apparently his goal was always south Florida but he put feelers out in various locations to keep his land purchases (made through various companies) down there out of the limelight.

Anyone remember when there was an Arbys on 190?

I've lived in St Tammany Parish almost my entire life. Here's what I can tell you:
- pretty nice place to live. People do overrate it a lot and like anywhere else it has problems and some bad areas, but it's still one of the better places to live in Louisiana.
- it has grown exponentially, especially Slidell, which used to be a pretty quiet community.
- Decent place for a family. Good schools, lots of parks and playgrounds. Most areas are generally safe.
- hunting and fishing are really good in certain areas
- soccer moms driving SUV's

Badeauxs in Madisonville is that Skooters place now. Haven't been since Mr. Pete sold it. He said he had only been breaking even on it for the last few years it was open and he was getting too old to bother with it anymore. The original Badeauxs was the one in Covington where CVS on Highway 21 is now. It burned down in the early or mid 90's I believe. I loved that super thin chopped up ice they used in their drinks; even better than Sonic ice.
St. Tammany growth has been insane over the last 20 years or so. I miss the days when it seemed a lot smaller. I really wish I could have seen it when my dad grew up here in the 50's and 60's.

I remember a Hardee's in that area, where Walmart is now, but not an Arby's.

Roller Kingdom. 80's excellence. It had an interesting run. I remember all the way from being a little kid thinking how awesome it was to an older kid picking up chicks for that couple skate and maybe go hang out in the back dark areas on each side.
Some of the older guys running it thought they were the shite.

Foxhole was by Maison Nez Liquor store and Roy's Gun shop. Maybe Columbia St?
Yes I remember now but not much detail.
Of course Roy's is still there and has barely changed. Still have the throwing stars and Buckmaster survival knife and other random shite.

Was right on 190 by South China.
Was also kenny rogers roasters and a video arcade. Could have been other stuff as well.

Going to Badeaux's on a Saturday night was always a highlight of our trips to visit our grandparents and was a real treat.

I miss Mandeville when it was full on trees in the early 90s. The post office, Walgreens, PAC, Barnes and Noble, etc were all forest.
I can remember when there was very little between Claiborne Hill and Mandeville. South of where I-12 is now were some of the most beautiful cypress forests.

Best roast beef poboys on the planet.
Anyone remember a snow ball stand on Jefferson Ave in Covington? My Brother insists it never existed.

While it is still there, Tiffany Lanes is a far cry from it's peak. I loved the arcades there. They might have 2-3 that still work now.

I always thought Mandeville must have been an great place to live ~50 years ago.

There is one on Jefferson now and there was another one in that exact same spot (by the light on 21st) back in the early 90's. I don't remember any others on Jefferson.

Also Wrap and Roll Cafe, but that was more of a 90s/00s thing.

I remember when the Wendy's near Petsmart/Walmart in Covington was the only thing in that area. I also remember 2nd and Charles when it was Books a Million and the original Walmart before that.
