you’re saying you’d rather live in Louisiana over Colorado , California, Italy and Greece?

Brother I love Louisiana but this is wild

It doesn't have to be as wet as Louisiana, just temperate at least - a wet growing season.

I only go downtown for Avs games, but I rarely smell weed out and about. Was in Chicago recently and the weed stink there was much much worse than anywhere I’ve experienced in Colorado*

*Red Rocks during a concert excepted, but you know, that’s part of the atmosphere.

All the bums walking up and down the road begging for money.

People on the side of the road holding up signs. you don’t need a red card.

No grass, some kind of prairie bushes.

Altitude sickness. Bottled water only. If you thought you drank enough water, you didn’t, drink some more. When you get home, go to the dr to make sure you don’t have altitude sickness.
Cause you’ll pay for it.

The good: literally every single aspect of your life will be substantially better than in Louisiana.

Every single person I know that moved to Colorado from Louisiana, all 10 of 10, were acid dropping, Grateful Dead/Phish loving, pot smoking, drug addicts that had Daddy's money to afford the escapades. The ones that didn't have Daddy's money, which was 2 or 3 of the 10, almost always work at a Ski Shop or Chef.

Think of the kid in high school and college that didn't ever try but always had Daddy to rely on but also loved Grateful Dead, Phish, Acid, and Cocaine. That fits to the exact tee all 8 to 10 people I know who moved there around age 25.

Son was in Golden for undergrad and grad school. He was ready to leave, and he’s an avid fly fisherman and skied a good bit while he was there. He was there during Covid when Denver basically shut down and was tired of the liberal bullshite.

Denver traffic sucks
Front range libs suck
I-70 is a traffic jam going into and out of the mountains

Fabulous scenery
Elk tag every fall
Mule deer tag every fall
Fly fishing
Skiing
Camping
Hiking

I moved from the Austin Metro to Ken Caryl a few years ago and 11.5 months later moved back to central Texas. I'm originally from Bunkie and graduated from LSU, so I know what you're saying.

It's an expensive place to live, more expensive than you realize. I kept my same job when I moved with no increase in salary, and groceries, utilities, and simple every day expenses hammered me. Far more than I expected. Start traveling into the mountains and it's even more expensive. It's one thing when you're on vacation and not worried about the cost of things, it's different when normalizing these prices for every day life.

The winter is fun for about a month then gets old. I love the idea of 4 seasons, but a wet nasty winter is a bit overrated. This isn't living in vail, this is like 40s cold, and wet in the greater Denver area.

The people are the worst part. Leaving Louisiana and moving to Texas the people got worse in general, leaving central Texas and moving to Colorado I kind of couldn't believe how fricking rude people were. Like you won't have a neighbor who you can just shoot the shite with, god forbid a Friday afternoon having a beer at a brewery and sparking up a normal conversation with people. I'm not kidding when I say the people sucked so hard.

Heading out on Friday about 3pm for the mountains? Good fricking luck with 70 or 285. Coming back on Sunday? If you're not on the road before 8 you won't be home until 5pm. Everyone, and I mean everyone is on those roads.

Ultimately we decided to come back to Central Texas. More affordable, better people, still much better weather compared to Louisiana, and can get home in 6 hours if I need to.

Colorado is and forever will be a place I travel to, not live permanently.

I found them, at least in the west side of Colorado, woefully ignorant. Have half the state come live in Louisiana for six months and things would change. They aren’t bad people but haven’t been exposed to the nonsense we have in LA. It’s easy to be super lib when you’ve never been exposed to cultcha. I guess that could for the population of a lot of states though.

I think people should question the judgement of anyone who describes Denver as wet. You may not have liked winter, but this is not a wet place.

You think after a dusting of snow 2 days a week it doesn't melt and make the city disgusting? It's literally all it does for 3 months straight with a few big dumps sprinkled it.

The city is wet as frick all winter long due to this.

Was there in January for a heavy snow storm and I would describe it as slushy wet. I love DEN but wouldn’t want to live there permanently.
