Wife and I are house hunting, and I'm trying to decide what the typical fee is and what is included (I know this will vary greatly depending on the neighborhood, amenities, etc).

I'm seeing anything from ~45 to ~180 monthly. I lol'd at the $180.

Regardless of which neighborhood we choose, I do plan to rise through the ranks by any means necessary in order to govern as I see fit.

How about living where you don't have some group of folks deciding what you can and can't do with the property you pay for?

$38 a month, but small neighborhood that does not have a management company and tiny common area. I know plenty that pay triple that for an average neighborhood.

None, only the stupid code enforcement...

They basically make people cut their grass and move their boats...

You don't just go in big-balls like that, you could get yourself suicided in the back of the head with gunshot residue in your non-dominant hand.

totally his option. Then we can all laugh when his neighbor puts an above ground pool in the front yard next to his broken down el Camino

I rent out a house in north Georgia. The HOA there is not a fan of renters, so I can count on getting a couple of complaint letters a year from them. Topics range from "Trash cans left at street overnight" to "Re-sod your yard". Once I got "Yard needs to be weeded" about 2 months after I re-sodded. I laughed and laughed.

$900 a year.

$180 seems reasonable

How much are the houses in this neighborhood?

Moving into one in September. Dues are $750 a year. In our neighbor hood that covers the entrance and a small pond at the back of he neighborhood that has benches and a gazebo.
We also get access to the adjacent much larger neighborhoods pool, bocce court, fitness room, and soon to be constructed wiffle ball field.
It will be interesting to see if our neighborhood votes to keep access to the other neighborhood once the HOA is tuned over to he residents.
