I like it as well. Nice mid sized town with access to Dallas and a low cost of living.

I live 15mins north of Longview. It's not a bad town, and they have most of the big box places. Tyler is less than an hour away, and has a good bit to do. Dallas is a pretty short drive.
Cons: I 20 from Marshall to Dallas is a purge level death trap.

Exactly... Longview is not a “small town” like people in Louisiana think of “small towns”
Longview would be the 5th largest city in Louisiana, and the greater Longview area has more people than Lafayette. And I love Louisiana and its cities, but Longview is far much cleaner And safer. Much less riff-raff.
We own businesses in both Longview and in Louisiana and New Jersey, and the Longview location is by far our #1 location in nearly every metric.
Longview would be the 5th largest city in Louisiana, and the greater Longview area has more people than Lafayette. And I love Louisiana and its cities, but Longview is far much cleaner And safer. Much less riff-raff.
We own businesses in both Longview and in Louisiana and New Jersey, and the Longview location is by far our #1 location in nearly every metric.

The people that seem to actually know Longview had good things to say about it. Seems like the people talking bad are the ones that haven’t ever been there, or have only driven through. Thanks to everyone that added to the thread.

Main areas of Longview (retail, residential, restaurants) sit 10-15 minutes off its I-20 exits, so If one is judging Longview just off their view from I-20, that’s not really In Longview yet, it’s merely the Longview exits.

It's like trying to see Kilgore, Tyler or Longview from the interstate. It's simply impossible.
I20 Longview vs. North of 80 Longview is silly different. Currently, Springhill ISD is the cream. I'll tell you, as expansion continues down 300 toward a Gilmer into East Mountain (GISD), that will be very valuable property. Gilmer just passed a bond for a new HS. Gilmer academics and athletics is hard to beat. Carthage and Gilmer, in 4A, are the dynastys in the last 20 years.

If you come into Tyler via HWY 271, you would think its a shite hole because 323 is nothing but plants there. City doesn't really start til HWY 31/ Loop 323.

Parts of North LA are like Texas, Arkansas and Mississippi but they are still run by LA politicians which steers away any real business development
