This alone would rank it ahead of most Louisiana towns.

Nice place that tries to keep from growing. That's good and bad. You have to decide if you want to live in a place like Zachary/Central or St. Francisville - obviously there are more rural places and urban cities.

I'm a lifelong Zachary guy and love visiting it. Food is good. You got the Bluffs. You got easy access to the west side. Schools are good. You don't HAVE to send your kids to private like you do in East Fel.

That place is awesome. Way better than any local grocer in BR

I don't hate West Feliciana, I simply gave the op an answer to his question. I didn't give it a glowing review so I hate it? It's a town with great potential but there isn't much to it. I'm not suggesting it blow up but more than one decent grocery store would be nice. A couple of actual nice restaurants might be nice, things like that.

The Oxbow closing was a shame. I thought its turtle soup was superior to Commander's Palace.

Why does a town of St Francisville's size need several "decent" grocery stores? Audubon is way better than decent and there are a couple of adequate other ones plus Treppendahls in Woodville

They have a hardware store that sells guns and ammo.

Zoning must be liberal. Plenty of trailers, junk car lots in front and back yards, and farther from BR than you think. I personally think Star Hill is worth a look if you are considering moving north.

There aren't lots of trailers in St. Francisville. It's literally against the law to own/live in a trailer in the town of St. Francsville. There's a town ordinance prohibiting them. There's also an ordinance forbidding junk cars in front yards as well. There are trailers in Star Hill though.

The ones there must be grandfathered in. Definitely trailers in St Francisville.

Definitely junky properties there but it is the country so that is what you get. Some people prefer that to the HOA life. Each has their benefits.

There will literally have a $500k property next door to shotgun houses with junked up yards.

Biggest problem I have ever encountered is a large drug scene among young whites 18-34 (know that's common in many places) and if you did not grow up there you will NEVER be one of them.

Won't disagree with the drug part, but to its credit, not many of these users are addicts dependent on hand out. Lots of successful business owners love the green or some Booger sugar when having a night out

Not one positive to say. That's ok though. Everyone has an opinion

Just false. The food is good. If you want "night life" then sure, it won't fit the bill. But if you're in a place where only 7500 or so are residents over the age of 18 then the Mag is great on a Friday night. Live music, good food, with a family friendly atmosphere.

Meh. Plenty of new resident move there and fall right in. If you have a negative attitude and you're judgmental then sure, you won't fit in because you'll be judged as you judge.

There is not the demand for more than one grocery store equal to or more than what they have.

Wrong parish

About 90% of their items are egregiously overpriced.

What are you talking about? The Oxbow was located basically right behind Sonny's pizza.

Yea I'm mistaken. I forgot they had a place there for about a year or so. Was in the old Steamboat building

Amazing how many restaurants have came and gone in the last 30 years.

You say I'm negative, but that restaurant was excellent. Perfectly fried shrimp and that awesome turtle soup. I'll also add the fried oysters at The Francis are very good as well. Some of the best I've had the last few years.

My original post should not be taken as a dumping on the town. It's just that I think it has a bunch of unrealized potential from an amenities standpoint. And I'm not talking about putting in a walmart, home depot, Belk type shopping area. It's got money but nothing particularly nice.

Same with Natchez, in my opinion, as far as unused potential is concerned.

To me, Natchez doesn't do a great job promoting the city and all its amenities.

No there's not. I used to live there, I know the mayor personally and he's talked to me about the ordinance against trailers, and the uppity historical society in St. Francisville would throw a fit if someone placed a trailer within city limits. The mayor told me that there is only only one trailer in the town, and the only reason it's there is because of some legal loophole issue with the property. It may be gone now because I think the person that lived there is dead now. Now, there are a good bit of trailers in West Feliciana Parish, outside of town, but in the city limits of St. Francisville there are not.
