I like the area. I don't live there but often I stop to eat at The Francis or Magnolia Cafe. My grandfather had a hunting camp out there so I'd visit every so often. It's quiet and clean. It has a charm to it for someone raising a family. If a person wants to escape the traffic hell of Baton Rouge and live in a quieter safer place then St. Francisville is for you. If you are someone that needs to be out and about town all the time then it's not for you.

Lot's of cool ghost/haunted houses. Hear the Bluffs was cool 20 years ago. Not much traffic or crime (save for the most notorious serial killer in Louisiana history living there during his killing spree). Not a long trip to BR, Natchez or New Rhoads. Good public schools.

Biggest problem I have ever encountered is a large drug scene among young whites 18-34 (know that's common in many places) and if you did not grow up there you will NEVER be one of them.

Crossing the bridge this morning, Zachary to Cenla, was wonderful. Maybe 10-15 vehicles total.

It's similar to Sunset / Lafayette.

Either way, you have to pass thru the hood to get there.

Talking about food here. If you don't want to eat there, you can get it to go.

Got a bunch of family land up there that we use as a hunting camp. I spend about a dozen weekends a year there. LSU cross country actually runs every Sunday on the road that runs through our land.

I've never lived there, but have lived in New Orleans. I have a feeling it is the same, fun to visit sick to live there (but for very different reasons)

And f whoever down voted Sonnys pizza. It's exactly 20 mins from our camp and if I call it in as I'm leaving it's waiting for me, which I do every chance I get.

Francis is a knock off of Sammies because it is owned by Sammies right hand man (until the had a falling out a couple years back) and that was the closest he could get to BR with the noncompete clause of his contract.

I lived there when I was younger. Couldn't imagine a better place to live quite honestly.

I'd take Boss Hogg over Sharon Weston Broome.

I would live in St. Francisville in a heartbeat over Zachary and Central. Jesus what kind of comparison is that!

Thinking of moving there myself

Small town feel, good schools, nice scenery, wonderful Golf Course and commute isn't that bad.

I've actually been working out there the last few months and was thinking the same thing.

It really is a pretty nice place

It's a great town if you are cliquish, pretentious and narcissistic.

The Francis Deli(next to their full restaurant that's good too) has amazing boudin balls, meatpies, and pulled pork sammiches .

Magnolia Grill is good.

South of the Border restaurant at the state line 20 min north of Stf is really good.

The Audubon Market has good breakfast and lunches.

There's a Krispy Krunchy in the Chevron right there as well.

Zoning must be liberal. Plenty of trailers, junk car lots in front and back yards, and farther from BR than you think. I personally think Star Hill is worth a look if you are considering moving north.
