The victim told police that she had fallen asleep on the sidewalk at an apartment complex in the Central Austin neighborhood of Hyde Park, located about a mile north of the University of Texas at Austin campus, after an all-night date with a man who lived in the complex, according to an arrest affidavit. She awoke to a woman matching Moen's description stabbing her multiple times, the affidavit said. The suspect was smiling as she stabbed the victim with a dark-colored knife, the victim told police. A witness told police that the suspect fled the scene on foot — later found to be in the direction of Moen's home, according to the affidavit.
