Parents screwed this kid up naming him Laker. Then doubled down by not having an obvious clerical error fixed right away because "it's so funny". Obviously, your kid doesn't share the same humor.

but he would never be allowed - the other HS teams would bitch and moan because he made the female team, and they would either not allow him to play at all, or the other teams would likely forfeit - which the district would not want either.

I don’t think we are “assigned” a sex at birth. Assigning what words reflect each sex was done a long time ago when developing languages. It also is decided for each person before birth.

These kind of laws are so ridiculous. Sex at birth should only be changed due to malpractice by an incompetent doctor getting the sex completely wrong or an incompetent hospital completely freaking up the documentation. In these instances the sex/gender of the person isn’t actually being changed but are just fixing the incompetence. They should also be done quickly after birth certificate issued at full cost to the doctor and hospital.

Since Arizona appears to allow trans to change their birth certificates well after the fact how a clerical correction is distinguished from a trans change might be playing into this.
Waiting 14 years to handle situation is also probably increasing the confusion of the situation.
I wouldn’t doubt if some supporter of males in female sports is also behind making this situation more difficult to fix than it should be.

Don't always agree, when going against especially. We played a high school a bunch of times in soccer that had a girl on their team for a couple years and she got fricking destroyed
We were just as physical with her as with others, not overly, but the same level of physicality. It did come off looking worse because she'd fall hard and it did draw some bullshite cards that wouldn't have been pulled otherwise. I'll never forget her trying to hip check me and I gave it right back and she went flying to the ground. She started it and we were there to win the game She was tough though, and never bitched, I'll give her that. Also her team beat ours a couple of times :embarrassed emoji:

How THIS happened was- if you take the story as fact- this happened in combination of lazy staff and lazier parents.

The fact that genetic testing may be warranted is due to Arizona letting transgender individuals change their gender marker on their Birth Certificates- rendering the validity of such a document fricking null.

Arizona says players must play on the team that represents their sex on their birth certificate at time of issue.
Arizona also says boys can claim to be girls on amended Birth Certificates.
Absolutely none of this would be a problem if this kid's parents fixed his BC immediately and if the whole of society didn't go down the rainbow brick road of sexual degeneracy.
