According to reports, the boy managed to climb on to a bus further down the street, stunning passengers with his heavily bleeding arm.

The driver is reported to have stopped the bus, allowing Pierre to catch up who then held Sam until the police and ambulance arrived.

Were you trying to turn this into a liberal vs. conservative thing?

Probably. Like a Southern state wouldn't charge the guy with the same crime.

People are being lazy and not reading up on what happened. This guy didnt rip his arm off on a fight for his life/property. He ripped his arm off by U-turning and mowing the guy down because he was pissed the kid tried to rob him You cant do that people

Was talking about the people commenting without watching the video. Take it down a couple levels.

ETA: Thought you would have picked up on that. I'll be a little more clear when talking to you next time.

If I were his lawyer I'd argue at trial - if we got that far - that he was trying to protect the public from an immediate threat: an armed robber who he thought was on a spree. It's not great but it beats his current defense of "he deserved it."

Yeh you would have to go with that angle or something similar.

ETA: Although it depends on the jury.... Look how many Batman fanboys in this thread are all for the vigilante justice

Allegedly the kid pulled the trigger and the gun jammed. At that point isn't he protecting innocent people on the street? I would have went with that defense.

Punk should walk about with the stolen shoes so he'd be happy?

If this delightful young fellow hadn't pulled a gun to rob this man of tennis shoes none of this would have ever happened.

Can you collect any government assistance as a felon? The kid should still be charged and convicted of attempted armed robbery.

Exactly. To me a great bit of the law should be simplified to cause and effect. It holds the causer to more accountability

It's New York, so naturally, that father of 3 is going to jail for a while while the would-be thief's family will get some cash.

Happened in Nola a couple years ago although the grand jury thankfully declined to prosecute. But the guy was arrested for shooting a burglar.
-----------------------------------------------------------
If you're referring to Merritt Landry, he got arrested because he went outside and shot a shithead looking around the property for something to steal from about 25 or 30' away. And the shithead was unarmed.
He should have stayed in his house, called 911, and started shooting if and when shithead actually tried to break in to the house. Instead, he went outside to protect his property and escalated the situation. He's lucky he didn't end up in jail. If he hasn't been sued civilly yet, I'd be surprised.
The kid is a piece of shite and the planet wouldnt have missed him if he died, but Landry fricked up.

Batman doesn't kill anyone bro.

I'm more of a Deadpool guy.

And yes, vigilante justice would solve a lot of problems.

Yeah I was referring to Merrit Landry, and he did the reasonable thing by shooting the punk.

Bernie Goetz would have been fine if he hadn't given "one more for you" to the guy already on the ground.
