Well, I've disagreed with some of what Trump has done, but the fact that American companies are allowed to import foreigners to take American jobs is kinda bs.
I think they need to demonstrate that they can't find qualified Americans for the position before they are allowed to.
It would probably lead to more offshoring though.

I had the exact same experience with a coworker at my last firm. “hi, NIH” messages on teams followed up by 10 minutes of silence. Word salad emails that didn’t mean anything. Strange assertive emails to clients. Was eye opening.

I have hired J-1s, and you have to claim that the local labor pool wasnt meeting the need. I'm sure its abused, its kind of honor code.
