No doubt.

I'll add that your phones are listening to your conversations. I have personal examples galore.

Skype and other video chat apps will actively try and recognize background objects to improve their marketing(a Skyper at a friends house with a NHL poster on the wall began getting emails about said team's tickets. he had never been to an NHL game).

Artificial production limitations to create artificial demand. This isn't limited to tech industry but Sony started it with the PS2 and it's grown massively to software as well.

I've read about the Samsung smart TVs (I have one) having a hot mic even when turned off. What else is known as fact to the public as far as what we would consider privacy invasion.

Absolutely anything connected with a microphone and a personal 'account' linked to it is listening. Say a bunch of shite and watch your email and chrome ads(if google is email linked to it) adapt.
Fact.

I was speaking with my wife about potential vacation spots, and I mentioned Salt Lake City. Without searching for anything, I started seeing ads for SLC tourism in sidebars on several sites.
This absolutely has happened to me. I understand if I was googling/researching something like a patio refrigerator....but to only think about and then talk about it with my wife ...and then the small frig ads show up on browser side bar...NOT a coincidence

iPhone screens could be made crack/shatter resistant fairly easily but they keep them glass because of repair/breakage costs

This. Apple got smart after the first IPhone and realized they could make tons more making it shatter easily. The IPhone 3 glass was dang near indestructible. If you sneezed wrong with the IPhone 4, it would break.

Boy reading must be hard for you.

I never stated that you believed they were fact. In fact one of the ones was a fact at one time and you didn't even know it. In most cases I stated how/why your beliefs were wrong....in 1 case you were right.

This intelligence level on this site has gone to shite over the last few months it seems.

That you should cover the camera of your laptop and/or desktop from being viewed/recorded by outside sources hacking into your system.

Phones are designed with a 2 year lifespan

FIFY, it's no different than vehicles being constructed to withstand the warranty frame. OEM parts are made to last up to the factory warranty or a span that qualifies them to be considered sturdy. This encompasses all platforms and products. Nothing is meant to last forever, but to withstand average use and lifecycle.

I have absolutely hacked personal and company/public CCTV cams. You can even turn some of them. Don't even need any level of hacking experience. Not an urban legend

Why doesn't any of my shite track me or record me? Maybe I'm not worth it

I was in telecom for some time, but that was over a decade ago.

Now in a marketing world. People's willingness to sell their privacy for the hottest new smart gadget has been good for business

Full disclosure - I use smart devices, because it is too hard to fight at this point. It is binary now, you are either on the grid or off, there is no middle ground to be had.

I'm the furthest from a conspiracy theorist, but I really want to believe this, but after the 1 year mark.

I've had all kinds of smartphones, and they all have the same exact issues starting right around that 1 year mark. It's maddening.

Ahhh I was just curious. I am in telecom and you were on point with a few topics.

I can't really go into more detail on them but you are 100% correct and then some lol.

Funny you mention Salesforce, they have gotten their hands in the public school system. They have access to every single personal, medical, financial, family, sports, etc information about a person and their family. It was truly alarming to see all the info they have access to.

I used to blame it on my wife not taking care of her phone. Using it while in the tub, dropping it, etc. Then last summer my iPhone 6 started messing up. Took it to the Apple store and the Logic Board or Motherboard was crapping out. I still had just at 3 months under warranty so I walked out with a new one, and they extended the warranty to 180 days from then for me. It had been in an otterbox from day 1, never exposed to liquids, heat, or anything else. Rarely dropped as well. Seems like it would make more sense to make them last the full 2 years, but then again you may have to buy another one before the contract is up.
