I’d say bigger than that but it’s tough to judge without a frame of reference

It says much much bigger

56-meter (184-foot)

Looks like you're off by a factor of two or so.

I've often wondered why these big luxury sailing yachts (that are obviously crewed with large crews) are sloop rigged with a single mast instead of ketches w/a mizzenmast like you see on much smaller sailboats.

If it were any other reason than a 4am tornado I’d agree with you.

I do wonder if they watched Twisters the night before, since its out on streaming now.

Baw should have had a heavy motor yacht like bezos with a wider beam instead of a light and skinny sailboat.

The guy was a dirtbag. Rich, but I guess all that money is just kindling for the fires of Hell.

This is why I refuse to buy a superyacht.

It’s why I have a team of meteorologists tail me at all times in helicopters and airplanes with weather balloons. And of course keep my own helicopter on deck. Just irresponsible to do less.

The aluminum mast was broken by wind, maybe a tornado, and the resultant instability caused the boat to ??roll over and sink

The mast does not provide any stability to the boat when the sails are down. The two possibilities I can think of is that the hull somehow suffered a massive breach and/or the keel broke off.

I had read they were cough in a water spout so I guess it is possible the keel could have been put in enough stress to break loose.

I think it’s safe to say billionaires should avoid sea going vessels at this point.
