Put 16 years in, last 4 I drank myself to sleep I was so miserable. Walked in at thanksgiving, sobered up started a new life. Own my business now, couldn’t be happier. Education system is broken.

Teaching 6 hours a day for minimal pay, working for someone else, and teaching at a public school sounds like a miserable existence. At least for me. No way I could do that.

I actually switch schools a lot. I'm the guy they send in to clean up messes.

I got burned out at the end of my third year last spring. I had a horrible attitude and my mind was on other things.
I applied for a job in the financial industry, but was turned down at the very end.
I feel renewed, but hot damn this is a non motivated class of students this year.
For all you idiots, it's not a DIFFICULT job, but have you ever tried motivating 100+ sixteen year olds on a daily basis. It can wear on you quickly, but I'm enjoying the hell out of the challenge this year, and I will win. They're just going to learn the hard way.

And people wonder why kids suck nowadays
Posted on 9/21/17 at 8:40 pm to CoachChappy
I'm 22 years in and I love my job. In short, I teach a subject that interests me and is constantly changing (Geography). It keeps things fresh. My wife, a teacher of 31 years, changed schools and it really helped her a bunch. I suggest a change at some level but if you are miserable going to work, a change at some level is a must. At any rate, good luck amigo.

Most jobs suck after 8 years

I just laugh at teachers. They get in thinking about changing lives, realize it is just a job, pay is terrible, then think the outside world is better. Predictable.

You'd guess wrong. I've been rated highly effective every year.

I'm actually at an A school and not miserable going to work. I just see kids who are abused, kids whose parents don't care about them and it just wares on you.
I've had a few bourbons tonight and I'm feeling better
