Wait for it….
Target stores closing
Holy shite, over a billion in theft?
Target stores closing
quote:
Target Corporation (TGT) CEO Brian Cornell said he does not want to close stores. But... That implied second sentence dominated a conference call with the media Tuesday to preview first quarter earnings. The Minneapolis-based retailer disclosed that since the start of 2022, inventory shrinkage, which is retail code for all of the stuff people steal from its stores, will have cost Target $1.1 billion in profits by the end of the year.
quote:
And Target said it’s not just theft that has plagued its stores and retailers across the country but also violent crime. Indeed, retailers like Walmart Stores Inc. (WMT) , Whole Foods Market (owned by Amazon Inc. (AMZN) ), and Nordstrom Inc., (JWN) have closed stores in cities where crime has anecdotally surged in recent years.

Were they stealing the bikini bottoms specifically made for "little girls" to be able to tuck their penises in?
Target is selling those, fyi.

I actually watched a guy at the Siegen Target shoplift two cases of beer. The dude had the nerve to walk past the registers, stop and small talk with the security guard, for a few minutes, then walk right out the door.

Not really surprising when you essentially stop prosecuting theft in many cases

I hope everything sold in a Target store from here on out is stolen. They are one of the biggest advocates of all the woke bullshite that has infected corporate America.
Time to reap what you sow, you Minneapolis freaks.

You stated over a billion in theft. Your quote clearly says over a billion in profits. There's a large difference between the two. It takes a lot more than a billion in sales to generate a billion in profits. Math is hard.

More than that. 1 Bil is just the estimated profit from the theft.

Holy shite.
That’s not revenue either. That is just the margin they would earn on those item as profit.

Eventually there won't be any stores you can walk into. Everything will be digitized.

But here’s the thing: retailers have rarely said they are shutting stores specifically because of crime. Instead, they use words like “overall performance issues.” For example, Walmart recently announced it was closing four locations in Chicago without ever referring to crime.
