So apparently the driver survived the crash, called 911 and they started evacuating. About 25 minutes after the crash, the truck exploded. I’m assuming the driver had returned to the truck and then got evaporated by the blast. I’m basing this off of the comments under the Facebook post.

I believe the 911 call came in at 640am and around 7:00-7:05 is when the explosion happened.

Holy shite. Hopefully no one else was hurt. That school bus is like 50 yards away

I think they cleared most of the vehicles before it went boom.

Do drivers that are carrying stuff like ammonium nitrate get paid more than say, a driver carrying a tank full of chocolate?

I assume so.

Finally someone takes a semi-truck accident off Baton Rouge's hands. Gift basket incoming.

Yeah, force the state's hand.

I'm assuming this could actually collapse portions of the bridge?

I’ve often said that someone could bring the whole southeastern corridor of I-10 to a screeching halt with 1 explosion where the interstate narrows to 1 lane.

Just like that it’s virually shut down

Looks like the truck was in the woods.

That's just debris covering the road. If you look at the bottom of the picture you can see the yellow lane markers.

Soon after the fire started, officials began evacuating houses in a one mile radius, then the explosion happened. That's when chaos broke out and people nearby reportedly began running in every direction and two police cruisers were destroyed

Ahh, so it was burning before it ultimately blew up.

They probably can't find the driver because he started running the moment he crashed. Dude is probably 5 miles deep into the woods by now.

Was there fires in the area before the blast?

The drone video makes it seem like there are forest fires all around the area now.
