They must call you meat mouth with the amount of dicks you can fit in that big arse mouth.
Go on the trip and quit spreading your buddy’s business on this site. They’ll figure out who you and your buddy are with the quickness.

The only decent and responsible thing to do is to tell the landowner and let him decide.
Anything else is to potentially screw over the guy for allowing you guys to handle firearms on his property. Regardless of what any of us think it will all boil down to what a law officer would think.
Tell the landowner and let him decide.
Just read where your buddy is still on probation for a felony.
There is a special category of stupid for you and your buddy. Sorry for how that sounds, because it the absolute truth.
You do understand at the very minimum, ANY SCREW UP will send your friend AND YOU to jail if a law officer sees him using your firearm unless you tell them he stole it from you? This is regardless of what the law officer wants to do to your landowner friend
You might want to consider that fact.

The guy asking about his drug felon buddy shooting at a range has this as his avatar;

A guy in our group has a non-violent drug offense for marijuana possession which has been on his record since 2012. He had been a lawful firearms owner before being convicted. He’s a good guy who was in the wrong place at the wrong time
Meanwhile judges are ruling that illegal aliens can carry guns. We're so fricked

According to Texas law, while felons cannot carry guns or ammunition outside their own properties, they can legally be in possession of a gun again once five years have passed from the completion of their sentence; five years after the end of jail time, probation, or any other requirements of that conviction.
Section 46.04 of the Texas Penal Code makes it illegal for someone convicted of a felony to possess a firearm. If more than 5 years have passed since completing their prison sentence (including parole or probation), the law allows possessing a firearm at home. Federal law does not contain that exception.

Just tell the dude to stay at the house when y'all go shoot.

Yeah he was breaking the law, but he’s never harmed anyone physically or menta
I hear ya, but its not even that. he's also a liability because he's clearly a dumbass. you say he's reformed, yet he's willing to double down on his previous frick up by going shooting with yall and doesn't care he's implicating everyone else. i'd want to see an equally long streak of good decision making before i brought this guy around anyone.

He needs to talk to an attorney. He may be able to have his rights reinstated.
After a bullshite process that requires your employer and others to both know about your past crime and vouche for you. At least in GA.
Also very different State vs Fed.

I have a friend that stole a canoe when he was 17. He's 42 now and still can't buy a gun.
I took him to the range a few times though. They only do checks when buying guns but shooting in a controlled environment.

You’re considering breaking the law just like he did.

Jesus this whole thread is dumb

Is there a good explanation for this?
A little first hand knowledge on the topic. My stepson is also a felon because of drugs. Way before I ever knew him though When my wife and I were got married she asked me if he could come stay until he could get on his feet AGAIN. It’s a rinse and repeat with him. I reluctantly agreed and told her that I would agree to him staying with us but only for a month. That’s when she told me that him being a felon means that I could not have any guns in the house. I laughed and said that was out of the question and if that meant him not staying with us then so be it. I always keep guns readily available but always locked up. I have grandchildren and if something ever happened to one of them I wouldn’t be able to live with myself.

Marijuana Possession Felony…3 words that don’t exist together.
Unless he was convicted in 1950, to get a felony related to Mary Jane, dude was DEALING.

He’s still on probation though, that’s the problem
That changes everything. Setting aside everyone else don't let your buddy do something that will absolutely get him violated if caught. This fact makes the whole query stupid as shite.
