you should sue them. Healthcare is too affordable these days. It seems like you have the opportunity to do your part and help your fellow man while getting paid at the same time.
It's not like they sent you home empty handed. They gave you the pills that you wrecked your car to get.

To be honest, there really isn't much more they can do for a broke collarbone. That's not to say that the doctor shouldn't have seen and informed the patient.

It wasn’t a car wreck. Bike going about 30mph.

I’m still mad at Memorial Hermann in Houston. 6000 for my husband for an ultrasound, basic blood work and a shot of Toradol. Except for the ultrasound and blood draw we sat in the waiting room. Never made it to a bed or room past waiting bc it was FULL of crazy people and pregnant foreigners. Insurance discounted the bill down to about 3200. Diagnosis was gas or maybe kidney stones. Wrong!! Gallstones. I know doctors shouldn’t listen to patients when they self diagnose, but even before we headed to ER we both knew it was gallstones.

But the local ER seems to think there may be internal issues as well. Either bleeding or kidneys. Hence more tests.
Sounds like your local ER doc is scared of getting sued and helping to run up the cost of healthcare.

The person shouldn’t have to pay for 2 ER visits when the doc missed a broken bone.

What are the blood and urine tests for?

Even if he “missed it” he still got treated for a broken collarbone with a sling

medical malpractice claims aren’t going to make your health insurance go up. Not to mention this would be a small claim, simply covering this persons medical costs. I doubt the hospital would even have their malpractice carrier pay. Probably would fall within their deductible.

They were a little shocked it wasn’t done already considering the circumstances.
I find it a little hypocritical though that you don’t at least partially blame the first ER for being wrong, therefor needing a second visit... if all you care about is the cost to you. I’m in the same boat. Why is someone paying for the same services from the same cause twice in the same day?

And he had to go back to be safe. He wouldn’t have if they’d have caught it earlier. He deserves to have at least one ER visit paid. And if won’t affect your premiums at all.
You’re being a little ridiculous.

False. Doctors practicing super conservative medicine and ordering more tests for everything for fear of getting sued most certainly is partially responsible for skyrocketing costs.

You can probably get the second ambulance ride cost waved if you have good insurance.
Posted on 9/16/18 at 8:38 pm to nes2010
Only one ambulance ride to the first one.

This is a huge stretch. And I’m a trained underwriter turned broker and only work with hospitals and physicians.
