Id rather be shot than stabbed. Stabbing gives me irrational fear.

This is ridiculous. I understand where it comes from, but that’s mostly because human knife injuries are much less common.

Go google image gunshot wounds v knife wounds and there’s 0% chance you actually mean it

ETA: knife wounds are rather local. Gun shot wounds, when an expanding bullet hits bone its like an external explosion

I see you missed the entire part about "irrational fear"

The five injured weren’t from the attacker but from non-contact running injuries.

Is that true? Because it damn sure looked like he stabbed that first dude square in the midsection. And slashed at someone else’s neck.

I am absolutely amazed that literally every single person just stood there and watched this dude act weird, throw smoke bombs, whip out a foot long knife, and start aggressively advancing toward people…..and did nothing, not even move out of the way. Incredible.

I know the bystander effect is a real thing and most people just assume nothing bad is happening. But Jesus. Get the frick out of dodge when you see that happening and get to safety (or even relative safety).

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an told local media that a 57-year-old man immediately tried to stop the suspect at the metro station’s exit, but was fatally wounded.

Why didn’t somebody just run him over when he started pulling out the knives in the middle of the road?

I too yell Hokey Pokey when someone is running around poking people with a knife

In other news, gun toting Americans ended 48% of the US mass shootings last year. Imagine if Taiwan didn't have such strict gun control laws.

We are the only country with people that are bout it. Most of our soldiers go to war because they want to, not because they were told they had to sign a contract.

His smoke bombs we’re shite

We are different from civilians to soldiers.

End of discussion.

Cucked society that lets that dude go around murdering people without anyone doing a thing.

Be serious. What would you have done?

Say you're middle aged. Have a wife and kids. Maybe you're in your 60's or 70's You're in a crowd seeing that. Would have likely been 1 v 1 because most people would be panicked and the initial human reaction to violence is to freeze or flee.

For context, I've trained in Krav Maga for close to 13 years. Knife defense is part of the training. Anyone that's had any experience would tell you knives are the scariest, and most likely, weapon used by criminals. There are defenses, but in a situation like that, who knows. Maybe you could find a weapon like a trash can, chair or something to get between you and the attacker. Or maybe you could rally the crowd to engage in mass and tackle him (not likely they'll be petrified).

Not criticizing as much as pointing out it ain't that easy for the average human being, and even people that have some self-defense training.

If you are going to die by assault, it's best to go down by bullet for the reasons you mentioned.

Probably because they aren’t used to the everyday violence and weekly shootings we see

It looks like they had no idea what was going on

Sure. But how much evidence do you need to see before you realize this dude has a giant knife and is aggressive towards you?
