T-Tops

Ever own a car with them? Would you buy a car today if they brought them back?

I owned a 1983 Ford Mustang GT T-Top for about a month. It was stolen at Cardi's in Houston. Never saw it again...

Late 70's, most of the 80's, if you had a car with t-tops, you were the man... Good times!!!

1981 - Pontiac Trans Am

1983 Hurst Olds

1987 Mustang

1987 Monte Carlo SS

1988 IROC Z28

My older brother had the Hurst Olds. Ragged it out and destroyed it but it was bad arse back in the 80’s.

I think it has to be the right car but could work today.

It was a great set up. Don’t know why it died.

Had a friend in high school about 15 years ago who his dad restored a Firebird to look like that top car. Was pretty sweet.

Nothing like flicking a cig out of a t top while the wind whips through your mullet. Cold Coors Original in the cup holder.

Brings me back.

I had an 88 Iroc Z and later a Pontiac Grand Prix both with T Tops. They were a blast to drive. Both would leak a bit in really heavy rains but overall, they were well engineered.

Loved them.

I had a 93 Pontiac Firehawk with t-tops back in HS. I loved it and cruised with the tops off as much as possible.

The only reason to have a t-top was the smash every piece of 80’s bush poon.

So, who WOULDNT want one?

They tended to leak and I had at least 3 friends who had one T-top smashed so that the theif could take the other T-top. This especially happened in mall parking lots.

Thing was legit. I bought it in '02, when I was 16. Some old man had it garage kept, only 50k miles on it for a 20 yr old vehicle.

I felt bad, he had died years before and the widower was just selling his shite. I got it for $1500.

This was my car in high school. It was fun as hell back then, but it’s cringe worthy to look at now. The T-Tops were awesome. Nothing better than spring and fall weather with those puppies off.

While they were cool, the ones I had leaked. When they leaked it sucked. Other than that pretty great.
