Let's say all marijuana related laws were thrown out that would less laws to enforce. And lets say that there is away to reduce crime by.. Let say at least half in high crime areas. There would be a need for less police right?

When it comes to unions, they are more powerful in larger numbers so they have no interest in anything that would reduce the demand for police. So as the title states, do you think it is true or false?

cops and marijuana is kind of like low level corporate employees fighting to continue doing some reports that add no value but take a lot of time.

Yep. Police are just dying to put themselves in a position to ruin their fricking lives for simply doing their jobs. Good observation.

Cops have jobs because there is a NEED, not a WANT. All the "Defund the police" types will have to figure this out the easy way or the hard way.

Just a FWI, I am not saying anything about defund the police because I think that is the stupidest fricking thing. I actually support more funds to police departments simply because if police made more money it would attract people who are more qualified (in theory).

Pretty sure you meant to say want instead of what in the thread title. Asshat.

I didn't say anything about individual police, I said police unions. You need to improve your comprehension skills.

Do some people have a profit incentive to criminalize things? Sure.

But I don’t think it’s the police unions.

Who would you say has the biggest incentive in having something criminalized?

I can tell you that my state shut down a speed trap city next to me and 15 cops lost their jobs because they funded the police with traffic ticket revenue.

That seems high incentive to me personally.
