I wonder if the Swift concert had any bearing on the state police being brought in ( "Operation Golden Eagle." ) to scare the hood rats and homeless back on June 1.

Without the details on how the study was performed or what multipliers were used and why, there is no way to know how accurate this number might be.
Every weekend there is economic activity in NO. Even if the numbers are correct you need to subtract the activity from a normal NO weekend to determine the “boost” the Swift concert brought to the economy and then ascertain how that money was distributed.

Does it really matter how accurate it is or is it more important how relative it is.
The bayou classic brings in an estimated 50 million. Sugar Bowl, $250 million. Jazz Fest, 300 million.
An estimated impact 200 million more than Jazz Fest is gigantic.

When the Mayor wants to justify other additional spending or hiring and uses paid for economic impact studies, the accuracy matters.
If you just want to BS about the swifties on the OT, it doesn’t really matter.

So not the impact of the Bayou Classic. (Sarcasm)

You think the average ticket price was $1300?

Many people who only read headlines think the resale market was the avg price.

Yup. I don't know if people are getting dumber or lazier. Maybe both.

But the OT says the state shouldn't give the Saints money for the Super Dome....

They shouldn't. They've been given plenty over the years and the NFL generates plenty enough revenue for Gayle and Co to do whatever they need to do.
Or maybe you're one of these people that think the Causeway still having (increasing) tolls almost 70 years later is a good thing.

The state needs to leverage their Done commitments to get the city to do better.
What the state is doing now isn’t improving the overall city as much as it should.
Sure we get to host mega events but does the impact help the overall community as much as it could?

Every hotel in the city was booked at a stupid rate. People were traveling and staying in Slidell and Houma hotels for the concert. Probably the most booked hotels in New Orleans east have ever been. You can knock the swifties all you want but they traveled and spent a shite ton of money.

Listen, this wasn’t a concert for Cowboy Mouth where Frank and the boys drive in from La Place and the only money they spent was for some beer and smokes at the gas station before the concert.
At least 75% of the people who came in were from out of state with quite a few being from out of the country.
Every hotel room in the metro region was sold out of three nights. The hotel rates were 2 to 3 times what they would normally have been.
These visitors saved all year and spent a fortune eating out, buying merchandise, doing tours, etc.
Someone laughed at the idea of Swifties buying art. I saw lots of pictures of those artist around Jackson Square with Taylor stuff they had painted. And there were massive crowds in that area.
Hell I have friends that own small business along the MS gulf coast that did very good business this past weekend with visitors coming are going to shows are just taking a day trip while staying in Nola.
This might not have been $500 million impact, but it was huge.

Sheraton on Canal was something like $700/night. If I book right now for Saturday night this weekend $330 with taxes and fees.

agreed. I can guarantee you, my niece and her friends who drove in and back from BR didn't spend hardly anything in NOLA.

Name a street uptown for her. She just did more than most for whom streets have been renamed recently.

And your family is cancelled out by all the people that came into town as early as Wednesday and stayed through teh weekend. $1300 is totally reasonable as an average, and honestly might even be a little low. I spent several hundred just coming form Mandeville for Saturday only
