$1300 is totally reasonable as an average, and honestly might even be a little low.

They are using the $1300 as the average ticket price, not the total spent.

200,000 tickets sold x $1300= $260,000,000.

Greater New Orleans says nearly 200,000 concert tickets were sold for the three-night concert series, with each fan averaging around $1,300 spent on lodging, food, merchandise and other expenses, per a U.S. Travel Association report.

I was referencing the post on the first page that asked where the rest of the $500M came from. All in $1300 seems quite low.

Anyway, they looked at certain assumptions that people made like 100% occupancy of rooms. People were attributing the entire 100% to the event when in reality, NOLA would 80-85% on just about any given weekend, big event or not. That's just one example.

Since then, I tend to view these numbers with skepticism.

No doubt TS brought a healthy number with very little additional expense to the city.
Tourism is the only thing NOLA has to offer in terms of industry so it's good to see when things go well.

Are they stating that this weekend brought it 500 million more than an average weekend, or 500 million total? Seems to me like they are stating the latter. New Orleans tourism is going to bring in millions every weekend.

I never really paid attention before the New Orleans concert, but girls who listen to Taylor Swift skyrocketed to the top of my “total fricking weirdo” list after seeing them all over Instagram all weekend. Super creepy and cultish to pay $1500 to dress up like a skank and listen to some mid singer so you can post about it

The White Dudes For Harris contingent of TD sho is triggered in this thread.

How does $260,000,000 in ticket sales get dished out to Nola?

I assume TayTay keeps ~50% for her and her crew, Ticketmaster keeps ~20% in fees, that leaves ~30% or ~$78 million for operations and taxes.

Still a lot of money, but not quite a quarter billion dollars.

Is my accounting way off or nah?

That’s per person. A group of 4 that shared a hotel room is over $5,000. Sure there are plenty who spent more, but a lot that spent way less. As an average and the way these things are calculated, it’s likely a bit over estimated rather than under.

no

or 500 million total?
also, no

They are estimating 200,000 ticket purchases-160,000 of which were travelers - spent on average $1300 and that will ultimately have a $500,000,000 total economic impact on the city when you attempt to factor in how those dollars get distributed and then redistribute over time.

These narcissistic attention hoes live life to be gain attention on social media by posting pictures of the event and clothing. They could care less about the entertainment part or anything else.

Good point. I was thinking about what my group of 4 spent with a one-night stay.

Totally agree these things are always done with rainbow math. Why can't we all agree that the concert was a decent net positive for the city and state.

Funny how this board will shite all over people spending money for Taylor Swift but dropping thousands to see LSU in Vegas is totally different.

The hive mind aspect of it, you bet.

What a bunch of bullshite. The Superdome is an amazing stadium that is better than ever. It's easily a top 20 stadium and it's location is top 5 in the league

The amount of ignorance and negativity in this thread is amazing.

I was in New Orleans this weekend and while I am no fan of Taylor swift, she definitely brought a ton of money into the city.

Anything like that is great for New Orleans overall and yes there were many more people than normal there for an October weekend

Disagree. There is nothing wrong with the Superdome.

200,000 tickets sold x $1300= $260,000,000. Where do they come up with the other $240,000,000?

Uhhhh, hotel costs, eating at restaurants, drinking, doing touristy things while in town and not at the concert, paying for Uber and Lift rides, etc., etc..

Those folks didn't just ride into town, stay at someone's house and then leave right after the concert. Many of them spent days here leading up to the event.
