Summary:
Most household objects won’t reliably stop a bullet.
Bullets easily puncture most walls, doors, and floors.
However, brick, concrete, and cinder blocks effectively stop most common calibers. But each bullet takes out chunks, so it can only protect you for so long.

yes, just you

quote:I mean if it was a 1980's CRT monitor/TV it would be one thing, but a standard flat screen monitor ain't nothing for a stepper (with round type/load being a consideration).
Surely there's a better way to kill the guy without shooting through a monitor lol. There's no guarantee where that bullet goes after going through a computer.
Perp went with the old theory, incorrectly, that if I can barely see them then they can barely do anything.

It’s not about deflection so much as it is the distance the projectile travels post-deflection. The distance between the medium (in this case, the monitor) and the target was minimal. Even IF there was some deflection (there was likely little to none in this case), at 8-10’ post deflection the POI might change by an inch. Might.

The only thing the sniper was worried about was if there was a dank meme displayed on the monitor.

Some disinfect cleaner, drywall and paint is much cheaper than the alternative

Yeah surely the SWAT team doesn't have special training involving ballistics

.308. Nice! Keep it classic. Would love the SWAT load data for that round.

Watch the video again. That round was subsonic meaning it was heavier than 175gr

There wasn’t a sonic crack with the shot hence it was subsonic. More than likely a 300BO.

I think he thinks that Bubba and Earl strolled up from out in country and said... hey, y'all, we got this. Now watch this...

quote:It’s basic knowledge of ammo knowing there are different types of rounds. If you have watched any amount of war coverage you know there are different rounds for different purposes. Some rounds penetrate both body armor and other types of objects. You don’t have to act like going through a computer monitor is so amazing, lol.

Exactly. It's a good thing none of the dozen dudes in body armor sneezed and bumped into him at the wrong time.

Should we bump this again? Seems like we should bump this again.

The "victim" of the shot has a GoFundMe set up for him, in case anyone was wondering. I know the focus of this thread has been the sniper/gun, but I've been monitoring the side stories too.
