People point to mistakes 40 years ago to drag down a man of God.
Lets all talk our own sins and compare.
I've done worse than Swaggart. Anybody else want to throw their two cents in? Swaggarts issues were child's play. I was a Hellion.
Most or this board has been a hypocrite, backbiter, slanderer, etc. in some way or another. But they gonna beat up a man for being a man. That's why we need Jesus, folks.

Over there's where we put the preachers, I never liked those clowns
They're always blaming me for everything wrong under the sun
It ain't that harder to do what's right, it's just maybe not as much fun
Then they walk around thinking they're better than me and you
And then they get caught in a motel room Doing what they said not to do"
"I just like the way it smells."

What have you done worse? Are these the type of degenerates that went to that church?

It's not mistakes. It's being a con artist and enriching himself in the name of Jesus. Just looked up his house. It's officially owned by his church and is tax exempt. I guess that's one of the perks of his job.

Look, we're all sinners, for sure.
But I don't think we were up there on the stage, dancing and prancing and speaking gibberish, claiming we were talking directly to the big man, lecturing and conjecturing about scripture and rapture, selling away our sins for the low low price of a tithe or twenty.
And THEN turning around getting caught doing the nasty dirty in a no-tell motel, smoking crack before screwing crack whores.
That's a level of hypocrisy few of us could even dream of reaching.

Do you think his spirit went north or south ?
Hopefully North
My grandmother always had him on the TV, she probably sent money but she hid it from us.

Where’s Benny Hinn when you need him?

It is called a parsonage. That way the house is tax exempt from Property taxes.
If you think that one is bad you should see some of the other preacher houses that are probably smaller than ole Jimmy's stabbing pad like Jessie Duplantis with a 35,000 square foot house in St. Charles Parish.

You think church is for those already saved and are community elites? That it is a holy gospel club where sinners aren't welcome? If that is the type of church you are attending, then expect on judgement day for God to say, I never knew you.
There is going to a lot of degenerates in heaven. Only one man in heaven will ever have entered truly free of sin, the rest had their sins forgiven.

I hate him the most.

It's amazing to me that people drive past that house on their way to his church, and still give that man money.

All his flaws and hypocrisy hid two very big God-given talents of his, at least over time and for his legacy. First, he was a fantastic gospel singer/musician and developer of that genre of music well past what should have been sort of its "end" stage. Second, there was probably no one alive who knew the Bible better than he did.
Regardless of the fact that he probably did more harm than good, he probably did bring some folks to the light and the good can't be completely ignored.
RIP
