Yeah it's going to be a hell of a hurricane season unless we get some of that ridge protection. Not looking forward to it either. I'm hoping this year's Saharan air layer is potent too. Bring on the orange air!

Is it just me, or is the Bayou Fountain gage ( BBRL-1) rising again?

I'm in Meadow Bend off Staring / Burbank. Water went down a bit, but still have standing water in the low parts of the street. We saw some of the heaviest rain (12"), but further down Alligator Bayou / Bayou Manchac saw more (15"). I would assume Bayou Fountain is backed up a little. Hoping the rain is light the rest of the evening.

Went filled up sandbags for Round 2. I was spared round 1. I’ll put 9-10 sandbags at the front door. If that don’t do it then the Good Lord just pulled my number.

Pretty good. Tomorrow mid morning looks like the bigger issue for LA, respectively.

As long as it is moving, it shouldn't be a huge flood problem.

It won't fix all the drainage issues but they put some massive retention ponds in when they built those neighborhoods. Still are digging them as they add on too.

If they design them to be pretty lakes and they stay full of water most of the time, there is no added retention for large rainfall events.

I had leftover sandbags from one of the hurricanes. Water came up quickly, so my wife and I were tossing bags in the slop last night.

I stacked them out of the way in the off-season. When I needed them last night, I was in waist deep water fishing them out of the pile in my back yard. Claycut Bayou current was whipping and it was dicey.

Plus, a good almost 18 hours with little to no rain in the area will help

Neighbor came over earlier and laughed that I had gotten sandbags. Said I was new to the subdivision and never floods the house.

I told him “they laughed at Noah too”.

He shut his mouth real quick on that one.

They're all picking up on a long period of convergence and some persistent, what I would expect to be heavy rain. It does make sense to keep it roughly near or west of 49.

Spent the day ripping out carpet after 16 inches of rain yesterday in Lake Charles. Now watching the weather and preparing for another 5-8 inches beginning early in the morning.

Worked hurricane recovery over there last year. Actually worked the weeks between the storms 1 & 2 and got locked out of our hotel and shipped home when the second storm was approaching. Y'all got absolutely walloped by that first storm--it looked like a bomb went off.

If there's anywhere in Louisiana that deserves a break from severe weather, it's dear old Lake Chuck.
