Many of you had wireless emergency alerts triggered on your phones a few minutes ago. That was because the Flash Flood Warnings for metro Baton Rouge were upgraded to "considerable" for the damage potential. It's an added layer meant to heighten the magnitude of the threat.

Spanish Lake has been full for three weeks. Geismar may be in a bind for a few weeks until they can pump all the water back out.

Without being too specific, I can imagine my neighbor is not too happy with me right now.

Damn. Just looked at radar to see what yall are dealing with, and that's a freight train of rain coming up from the Gulf. God speed, yall.

It’s been about 5 days since we were last woken up by flood or tornado alerts in Metairie, I guess we were due

KDP showing that it is absolutely dumping rain in SE EBR. All four panels of my radar tonight are suggesting those in St. George start building an ark.

Anyone have a link to keep up with rain totals? This has to be a record for the day.

It is absolutely coming down right now there. It looks like a hurricane outside

Yeah my backyard is mainly fast moving water, and the court I live on is fast moving water also… thank goodness my house is higher than my backyard and street

Those houses off of Bluff had water up to their doors already. Imagine they will flood now. The back of my neighborhood drains into Spanish Lake. They are beginning to deal with flooding issues.

And St. George was already in a bind with water that couldn’t drain because everything downstream is really full. Bayou Fountain was already running backwards before all this hit.
Bet those retention ponds all the shithead developers were allowed to build along Highland and Burbank are functioning well right now.

Oh well, at least Lake Chuck is getting some relief. They’ve been getting shite hammered all day.

To track where the heaviest rain is tonight, I'd suggest running your radarscope with normal reflectivity and specific differential phase. The blues and greens are going to line up with the ridiculous rainfall rates. Lightning is also going to be a sign of the heaviest rains are coming and also should perk you up to possible quick tornado risks.
