It is. That’s why everyone is going crazy.

Even back when people were subsistence farmers, their lives had a natural variety according to the seasons.

Bad weather days were days off. They worked feverishly during planting and harvesting and then more leisurely at other times, etc.

This period of constant mundane office work day in and day out for a lifetime is a brief moment in history. We are just unfortunate enough to be the ones doing it.

Euros and Aussies get insane vacation time, especially the Aussies.

When I was in Greece a year ago, it was during a time when a lot of Aussies were there. We met at least 10 that were on 3-4 month vacations traveling around. It was nuts I don’t get it. They also thought Americans getting a week or two off was bonkers.

The article stated the shark launched itself out of chest deep water and took the surfer. Took him by the chest head. Guy probably barely saw it coming before it was all over.

No one ever died from a shark attack on a halfpipe.

When you compare it to what other western countries give their people...yeah, it's a huge and glaring disparity.

That's fine and all, I'd love to have 3 months off.

But what I don't get is...how do these companies in Australia continue to function when everyone is off at the same time for 3-4 months

They claim that an animal will become accustomed to attacking and eating humans after doing it a couple of times. I would be the exception to this...if an animal attacked and ate me that animal would go tell anyone who would listen "do not eat one of them things....I ate one once and it shite all over itself and me and tasted like shite....they are nasty frickers and ain't fit to eat".....

Australia is bananas. Great whites that do not seem to nibble. Most venomous snakes on the planet. Australian Brown Snakes are like copperheads over here in where they are found.

If the sharks aren’t bad enough, their fricking jellyfish can kill!!

Great Whites and Tiger Sharks hunt using different methods. A Great White will lurk in the shadows and then launch a quick ambush on it's prey by delivering a massive single bite and will then hang back and wait for it to bleed to death which typically happens quickly given its bite metrics. A Tiger Shark will just swim along until it sees something tasty and just start ferociously trying to eat it. Neither is ideal but if you're going to be eaten by a shark, the Great White is probably your best bet. People who survive the attacks usually said something like they suddenly felt something slam into them and they looked down and their leg was gone with no pain. People who survive attacks from non-Great Whites usually have a horror story that resembles the poor bastard in Turkey.

The way you worded that makes it seem like the shark fricked him.

Clown world.

Why should they close the beach? Just put a lot of signs up and let people make their own decisions. A nanny state is a true clown world.
