I thought the activator was essentially just water. That's what I recall from years ago anyway.

What you buy is N,N-dimethyl-p-toluidine.

Interesting. What I remember from years ago is that CA is moisture activated.

eta-That's why the original stuff was so good at sticking your fingers together instantly while plastics could take a while.

Get it cauterized. Same thing happened to me a few days ago.

It's neosporined, super glued, and paper toweled with tape.

If infected in a few days I'll just Tommy Norris it before cauterizing with gunpowder.

The steaks were excellent.

There are liquid bandage solutions you can get that are antibacterial. That would be the best bet. Glue can cause issues and lead to infection.

You are correct that CA is moisture-activated but the activator you buy which works instantly is usually N,N-dimethyl-p-toluidine.

I would just keep it cleaned and wrapped. I had a major cut on my right middle finger last summer. I was away and couldn’t get to any urgent care place for stitches. I thought it would take months to heal. Shockingly it was healed within couple weeks. It looked horrendous.

Great remedy for stuff that is too big for a band aid but not big enough to warrant a trip for a bunch of stiches.

I like new skin. I like it for a lot of stuff, actually.

And yes, cyanacrolate (super glue) was developed for just this purpose.

Not even close. During WW2 cyanacrolate was developed to make a clear plastic gunsight but was rejected because it was too sticky. A couple of guys at Eastman Kodak stumbled upon it and used it for repairs and then patented Super Glue. It wasn't until the Vietnam War that it was used to seal wounds.

If it's a part of the body that bends and flexes, super glue might not be the best option. If it's that deep, I'd get a stitch. A fingertip cut could reopen continually and be a continually painful problem.

Pharmacy closes at 5:30 and I didn't want to go anywhere anyway.
