I'd easily drop $200 on a nice pair of sunglasses before dropping the same amount or more on a heavy arse ice chest like Yeti.

I will never spend a bunch of money on sunglasses or pens. I lose or break them too often.

Yes they do.

And they're worth every dollar. Have three pairs.

I’ve had the same pair of Oakley’s for 11 years.

If you're paying more than $100, you're paying way too much.

Quality shades cost more but you can find good stuff on clearance at places like Steep and Cheap.

Paid a little over 100 bucks for polarized ray ban wayfayers. Someone picked me up another pair with the shiny tortoise frames at Dillards during a sale for like 20 bucks.

Explain the difference between a $200 pair of Costas vs a generic $20 pair of polarized glasses. I really don’t know the difference

$180 for sure

All coolers are made to keep shite cold.

This is a tough one because coolers are really hard to wear and sunglasses don't do much to keep my beer cold.

Sunglasses are a fashion statement for classy ballers.

Coolers are a fashion statement for fraternity guys (nothing wrong with that when you're 18-23) and rednecks/white trash.

Let's not try to equate Jim Bob carrying around a Yeti to impress nasty skanks at prop stop, to James Bond rocking some Tom Ford Snowdons in Spectre.

You need to put them on the can vertically. They fall off too easily horizontally.

I bought a pair of Callaway sunglasses for golfing. Must admit, it makes a difference for glare reduction, line of sight and also the aura pleasantness of experience, over a 20 dollar pair. Could definitely see the difference.

With a Yeti (unless being used to transport organs) if it doesn't keep something cold long enough its no big deal.
If sunglasses don't filter out enough UV your eyes are toast.

I have two pair of Rx sunglasses. Some really old Maui Jim's, and a just a little old pair of Costa's. Both Polarized. The MJ's are a little better for driving, and the Costa's I use when running around outside. They feel better when I'm running, and if I'm doing anything active they're what I grab. I used to just use cheap ones to cut grass and other stuff, but that's a good 2-3 hours I'm out in the direct sun so I figured I might as well use them. Plus the warranty is great.

I know this board is obsessed with YETI and throwing away hundreds of dollars on coolers, but sunglasses seem to be the bigger scam.

Academy has some Costas on clearence today for $220. I’ve never paid more than $20 on a pair of shades.

Where’s the bigger racket? Coolers or sunglasses? Costa doesn’t even give you a decal for your truck.

sunglasses. They're literally almost all made by Luxottica and just branded differently.

Stores they own:

LensCrafter
Pearle Vision
Sears Optical
Target Optical
Sunglass Hut
Eyemed
Glasses.com

Brands they own:
Ray-Ban
Oakley
Persol

Companies they make frames for:
Chanel
Prada
Armani
D&G
Burberry
Versace
etc.

$11 billion in revenue last year. They're the reason people pay absurd prices for sunglasses.

I’ve spent $500 on a pair of Persols before and I regret nothing.
