I know this board is obsessed with YETI and throwing away hundreds of dollars on coolers, but sunglasses seem to be the bigger scam.

Academy has some Costas on clearence today for $220. I’ve never paid more than $20 on a pair of shades.

Where’s the bigger racket? Coolers or sunglasses? Costa doesn’t even give you a decal for your truck.

I think sunglasses. They all do the same thing: block the sun. However, there are some pairs that are nicer than others and I would rather wear.

ETA: Downvote all you want, but you can not deny that all sunglasses are made to block the sun

I am the same way. I am far to rough on sunglasses to drop that kind of money on a pair. I am not going to be critical of someone who does spend big bucks on them.

Either will last long enough to justify price

I hate the price of sunglasses too, but I still buy them at their expensive prices. Couldn't even explain to you why. I guess it's just cause everyone else does it

have 1 yeti. Stays out on the patio by the pool. Use it once or twice a year. Have a few pair of MJ sunglasses. Use them every day. I'd say sunglasses are a better value.

Every $200 pair I've ever bought were lost or stolen or left on a bar within a month, month and a half. $30-50 shades do me just fine.

And when that fateful day comes when I find myself buying the last two bags of ice on earth, I'm gonna feel like a real a-hole for laughing at those douchey coolers. But until then, I'm a Coleman man. As my father was before me.

Expensive ones just feel better. I don't even mean more comfortable design necessarily, just higher quality, tighter build and materials feels better against your face. Look better obviously. I've always stuck with Ray-Bans through the Oakley and Costa and whatever else crazes. But I dont have any right now, because every pair of sunglasses I've ever owned, cheap or nice, ends up lost or broken. I hate when that happens to a $200 pair. I'll get some more eventually but I've always got like 5 pair of $10-$20 cheapos floating around between my home, vehicle, work, secret apartment...

Coolers. My $35 Igloo is fine and I use it every few months.

$160 polarized Ray Ban aviators that I've had for 5-6 years and are far superior to gas station glasses. A pair usually lasts me 8-10 years and I wear them almost every day

Sunglasses are not equal. Cheap sunglasses can damage your eyes.

I wear vuarnets.

I only have one set of eyes and don’t want to chance effing up my eyesite.

I don’t have any yetis though. 7 day Coleman with wheels is all I need.

Had a pair of $200 cost as for years, replaced them just recently with another, and they give you a sticker OP. Their warranty repair service is awesome.

Also have three pair of strike kings laying around.

ETA: have three Rtics

I think it's already happened. I'm entirely dependent on them. Plenty of times I've bought a new gas station pair basically for one day just because I left mine at home. My eyes cannot bear the sun without them

No, they really don’t.

While I’ll never spend hundreds on a yeti cooler, my $30 yeti thermos is worth every dime.

I’d never pay more than $15 for sunglasses though. Hell, I think every pair I have I’ve gotten for free as a promo.

Explain the difference between a $200 pair of Costas vs a generic $20 pair of polarized glasses. I really don’t know the difference.
