If your “strong” hidden message requires a nine point explanation, then your messaging sucks; which in this case is fitting because the show itself sucked rancid arse.

A wake up call to what?

A change of what?

Our culture is real?

It’s 2025, get to whatever you’re talking about because it has to be exhausting yappin about the same nonsense and not living the one life you get. I know it’s exhausting hearing the same shite over and over and over. Get to it already.

Or it could just be the simplest explanation:

Kendrick is from Compton where gangs are prevalent. Red and blue represented bloods and crips. The white was added to soften it up for the masses. To make it seem more American, they wanted Uncle Sam (Samuel L. Jackson).

The Drake stuff was just to make fun of Drake.

I should have taken his advice and turned off my TV and maybe I would have if I could understand a single thing he said. What a joke. That being said it probably all would have still gone over my head.

Sam was obviously there to play the part of, in their eyes, stuffy loser white America. He even had a line that said “this is too ghetto, tone it down”

Even though it was making fun of us it was right… that crap was too ghetto.

If he was trying to send a message, making it entertaining would have been a smart move.

Or perhaps purveying said message in a common language of the vast viewing audience like ENGLISH maybe? Just a tip. Unfortunately for him the majority of America just heard blah blah blah blah, blahblah blahblah...
Maybe next year he can hire Biden's Sign Chick to help out...

99.9% of people didn’t pick up on any of that.

They just thought the dancing, lighting and camera looked cool.

It’s sad blacks are being brainwashed into thinking they are owed something. It’s not a recipe for success and it will continue to hurt them.

Since I couldn’t understand anything he said, the message I got was the same one Black America has been exhibiting for my 60+ years

I'm sure there were some politica(black power version)l aspects to the imagery and in his lyrics, he doesn't hide his activism, but to access that performance and setup as anymore than a not so veiled direct shot at Drake, media/social media pressure, and the attempt to litigate him from exercising his American born right to freedom of speech and the ability to perform his expression of art. Haven't seen any suits for libel in reference to "Not Like Us", just that the system was rigged to make it a major hit.
