Saw a couple snort that in the back room of a bar one night…they put the plate out for takers, but everyone saw how fricked up they were and passed on the offer.
I tried it once. It knocked me out. I felt great for about 10 mins then literally passed out on a recliner. Woke up hours later and passed on doing more.

Doing most of those drugs at 18
I stayed away from several of those substances because I was afraid I would like them too much. You haven't lived until you spend a whole night Candyflipping and fricking two or three girls over and over.

Two thirds of high school kids smoked weed in the 70s? Yea, I'm not buying that
Was in high school from 87-91. Not sure I can think of anyone who wasn’t smoking weed. I mean I’m sure it wasn’t 100% but I can see 65-70% easily.

Legal drinking age was 18… driving 15…(learners14) …..you could usually get it around 16 -17 in town or 14-15 ..( (or when you could reach the counter ) if went outskirts of town.
Yeah that is about right.. but cocain and meth were not anywhere I recall..
pill and mushrooms for the leftover 60s guys
That was my generation.. dazed in confused was accurate.. cops talked to you.. you talked to them .. and said thank for the warning..
Great time to be teenager..

This could be close to accurate. As a high school kid in the 70s, I didn't know many people that hadn't at least tried marijuana or were currently smoking occasionally.
I agree that it's close to accurate that 2/3's smoked weed in the 70s. I graduated in 1979 and I would give it at least 50%. I bet 80% had been drunk before graduating from HS, especially in La, where the drinking age was 18 then. Most everybody was messed up every Friday and Saturday night. In a small town, you were learning to drive at 13, permit at 14 and a lot of us got to drive around alone then. At 15, we were legal. We definitely grew up a lot faster then in a lot of ways.

The new "War on drugs" narrative is to have the News tell us that everything is tainted with Fentanyl and you will die if you are in the same zip code as a pill. ROFL.
Go speak to a patrol officer, fireman, paramedic and/or asst coroner. You would be shocked at the amount of overdose deaths that occur daily due to fentanyl. Hell, the fireman don't fight fires any longer, they ride around all night reviving junkies and others with Narcan due to OD.

Legal age when I was in high school was 21 (graduated,’68),beer was generally easy to buy.Hard liquor, had to drive out to a country store.
Ya’ll won’t believe this,I never even heard of marijuana until I joined the Navy in ‘69.
Stationed at Seabee based,Port Hueneme California, had to be 21 to buy beer at the E.M club.,and they were strict.Pissed me off,I could go to VietNam but I couldn’t buy beer.
In retrospect,I was better off for it.

List is shite without quaaludes.
I had a prescription for quaaludes in the late 70’s. 40 per month for 12 dollars. Had my name on the bottle and perfectly legal..
It was like Lynyrd Skynyrd sang in “ That Smell”. “ can’t speak a word when you full of ‘ ludes. “. “ oak tree in my way “.
We did so much stuff full of ‘ ludes I really don’t know how we survived.
They gave us the cards that they used to make picture ID’s in high school during typing class. My friend and I seized the opportunity. There was an empty space that we typed in a fake birthdate for all of our friends. This was when we were 15 years old. The ID was accepted everywhere and the administration never caught it.

In the 70s, you almost got high just going to a concert because the weed was everywhere and smoking was legal inside of venues. I don't think there was a single concert I attended in high school where a joint didn't get passed down the row. Every single one. I was always scared I'd get in trouble because of how I smelled when I got home.

when i was a kid no one did tide pods or died of fentanyl. Heroin was non existent and has made a comeback.

This 1977 high school senior didn't smoke pot until after I got to college.I was pretty anti-drugs because I was playing multiple sports. When I got to college I found out the college athletes had the best weed. Guys from other states would bring stuff back with them from home. My gymnast roommate was from Miami. His parents were divorced and his dad lived on Maui.
We always had multiple types of weed. His dad gave him some of it. Sent him Hawaiian bud that had "hair" on it. You only saw buds like that in High Times back then. His dad also gave him a hookah pipe with three hoses. It took at least six guys to get it going good. Nearly all of the guys living on the 4th floor south wing of Hatcher got high.
