I don't care when artists I support disagree with me politically. I do care when they use my support/loyalty for their art to promote a political agenda, especially when the political agenda consists of poorly thought out arguments regurgitated from other overly-emotional people.
It's easy enough to ignore or turn the channel, but in theory, I do think it's a bit of taking advantage of the people who helped get you where you are.
I'm not sure what the best option is for them and for us. I'm not following Isbell on Facebook to hear his ranting about how evil I am because I vote for people with (R)s by their name. I follow so I can see when he's coming to Atlanta or when he's got some show appearance or the like. I'd probably settle for a "here is what I believe, if you disagree that's cool, come out to the show anyway it'll be fun" approach. But everyone is too polarized for that in large part.

Simpson has also made it clear that he’s no fan of the genre’s trophy ceremonies.
Yet he's proudly reminding everybody that he has a Grammy.
What a douche.

I’m out and around on my phone. Not linking things etc.
But for all those bitching about Sturgill, google his 2016 rant on Facebook. He bitched about their “Waylon Jennings Award”. I think Miranda Lambert won it. He ranted about all of the people leaching onto his then recently dead name.
All downhill from there.

Yeah, all people who don't work for a living are liberals
If I sang songs I didn't write and couldn't play guitar and got paid millions I might be too

Kind of comes off as an estrogen fueled bitch move imo

As boring as Sturgis' music is, it's light years better than bro country. And I always liked his political opinions.

Not melting, you low IQ's put this clown in office.
Never been a more thin skinned, whiny President in our history. He's a national disgrace.

You clowns on the left put this guy in office with your smarmy little elitist attitudes (as you just displayed).
Please proceed with your melt, ma'am.

We did put the worst candidate in history up for election, I'll give you that.

I've been in Nashville for 20yrs, there's lots of different views among execs, artists, producers, players, techs and everyone else that keeps the wheels turning. And that's changed exponentially with the hipster land rush in the last decade.
Most folks in the business dgaf. Make good shite, hell make bad shite, just make money. But if you have to wear your politics on your sleeve:
Nobody needs a machine gun, coming from a guy who owns a few guns,” Simpson started. “What else? Gay people should have the right to be happy and live their life any way they want to and get married if they want to without fear of getting dragged down the road behind a pickup truck. Black people are probably tired of getting shot in the streets and being enslaved by the industrial prison complex. And hegemony and fascism is alive and well in Nashville, Tennessee. Thank you very much.”
Bring something that doesn't sound like a 7th grader on facebook.
