Well said.

I listen to all of their music. However, Sturgill in this instance is a phony victim just like those that comprise the groups he allegedly supports (BLM, ANTIFA, etc.).

Though Simpson’s latest album went No. 1 on the country Billboard charts, he’s also considered Americana music and overlooked by mainstream Nashville — and his sound is far from what fits on commercial country radio.

The above three things could also be said about Jason Isbell, but his album was nominated in the Best Album category. Didn't win (Stapleton did) but it was still nominated.

I loved High Top Mountain and Metamodern, Sailor's Guide not so much. He is an odd paradox. Rails against Nashville every chance he gets, but gets pissed off when he is excluded. He has played the Opry several times in the past, but bucks the general Nashville system.

I will watch LSU until the day they no longer field a team which I pray will not be in mine or my children's lifetime.

If something/someone you liked or watched openly supported Alex Jones or Blue Lives Matter or something similar would you say the same thing? It's yours and everyone else's perogative to watch or stop watching something for whatever reason they see fit. That's fine with me, but this argument is always pot calling kettle black. The only reason you think the people that don't like Simpson are stupid is because you most likely agree with him. If it was something you were starchly against you would call him an idiot and stop listening to him.

That’s not even close to being correct. Some people would, yeah. But 95% of normal human beings don’t really care that much about what leanings their favorite artists are.

I don't see it as him being pissed off that he is excluded. I think it's a criticism of the manufactured product that is mainstream country. Contemporary mainstream country is very manipulative, insincere, and isn't genuine. It just isn't good art. Sturgill represents the antithesis of that. He's a call back the the grassroots genuine American music of the past old country with a little of his weird psychedelic pseudo intellectualism thrown in there. I'm glad that he's willing to point to mainstream country as currently being crap.

That guy is about as country as Jethro Tull was heavy metal. The probably only won that Grammy because of his stupid political rants.

So let me get this straight--what Sturgill is saying is that Donald Trump runs the CMAs and that because of Trumps fascist views he had Sturgill banned from the CMAs?

I for one didn't realize that Donald Trump was such a country music fan so thanks Sturgill for letting us all know that.

I dont give a shite about you or your political leanings and you shouldn't make any assumptions about my political leanings. That said if you didnt realize where Sturgill stands after listening to his lyrics you're pretty fricking dense.

No, you’re either Antifa Cuck or a Trump supporter for most of the people on this site.

I’ve never really paid much attention to what his lyrics say, but do like a couple of his songs.
This stunt does make him seem like a butthurt pussy. Regardless of his or your feelings about Nashville/Country music, people like it.

Also, he needs learn what facism is.

The CMAs don’t want people to know that their artists are mostly liberal because it’d blow up Nashville.
