That is absolutely hilarious because that is the exact mental picture I have of the OT chicken littles.

Then why do physicians wear them?

If we assume this is true, wouldn’t it help decrease the spread of it, since we think some people are asymptomatic? In other words, if everyone was wearing one, it could help slow transmissions.

My wife and I are arguing about how effective an n95 mask is. Anyone have any decent data they can point to that I can show her? I’m telling her that medical personnel wouldn’t wear them if there wasn’t some sort of positive effect.

it can help with direct airborne transfer, as in coughs, sneezes, etc. Which healthcare providers are at greater risk of.

But it does not help with transfer from surfaces. I.e. someome sneezes on their hand prior to touching a handrail, then you touch said handrail prior to touching your nose

Mask isn't going to help you not catch the virus, they only tell you to wear a mask if you do have the virus to help not spread it.

I can tell by the conversations in this thread that you girls don’t have the chest or immune system to fight this thing off. Find a mask

It is not realistic for everyone to have them, they’re already in short supply as it is.

Because it really only protects those around you when you cough and sneeze. Society has proven they really don't care about the needs of others

Government has slowly eroded communities, centralized power, hopefully more people wake up to how different society is and how detrimental it is in times like these.

It's continue down this path or revert back to when your neighbors were your friends. I promise the path we're headed is a detriment to everyone.

Bull fricking shite. They are telling only those with the virus to wear them because of the low supply and with a low supply that is the most effective approach. If everyone had 100 masks sitting in their closet they would suggest everyone wear them.

I have a pair of 3M PAPRs I use for woodworking and will go full MOPP4 if the shite gets real.

Because the number one thing you don’t need to do is touch your face.
When you wear a mask, you end up touching your face three times as much.

You will still get it even if you wear a mask, sorry to break it to you.

This is the sort of imprecise language I don't know how people get through life using.

Read what you said.

You MAY become infected with the virus while wearing a mask but a properly fitting mask worn correctly will reduce your chances of becoming infected.

If you want to break it to someone why don't you drop by and argue it with my wife, if she can't get you to understand the efficacy of a proper mask in the reduction of disease transmission she will beat you about the neck and head with her medical degree.

A mask is just part of the PPE required to reach near 100% efficacy against becoming infected but even a (proper) mask by itself lowers transmission.
