This is the sort of asshattery that will lead to civil suits. I certainly don’t subscribe to the thought that we should all be sheltering in place and wearing hazmat suits when we must be in public, but on the other hand, we do each have a responsibility to those around us to not be negligent.
Being sick around other people isn't a fricking crime. Get over yourself. This is no different from what happened back in March in St. Louis.

It's your belief not a single other person at that dance has been in contact with anyone who has covid?

I remember going to my brother's graduation and this guy in his class getting some sort of award for having perfect attendance for 13 year of school. This included at his K-8 school and his high school years. My brother had gone from K-12 with this kid and knew him really well. In fact, at one point, we had carpooled with the kid.

I asked my brother about it because I just wondered if the kid just had some sort of super immunity system to the point where he never got sick.

My brother said the kid had gone to school sick as a dog on several occasions. But, his mom was obsessed with both of her kids having perfect attendance so she made them both go to school no matter how sick they were or what they had. Apparently, it was the mom who petitioned (and insisted) on the kid getting that award at the graduation ceremony and the brothers were just tired of dealing with her so they gave her what she wanted.

Perfect Attendance Awards are fricking stupid. I sincerely hope that moving away from the focus on that is something we still do going forward after COVID-19.

They should rename it the Patient Zero Award.

I also had a parent two years ago that I had to call CPS on because her daughter was having a full on asthma attack (no nebulizer or inhaler at school) and Mom refused to pick her up or give consent for transport by EMS to a hospital because she didn't want it to "effect her Perfect Attendance". She almost died. It's one of the more batshit things I've seen.

no one shits themselves over the flu.

pulling your kid from school for a flu outbreak is not an excused absence. my kid was one of 5 left in his class last year that hadn't gone down with it.

still had to show up. eventually got it.

we have to get over the boogeyman this virus has created in our minds.

eta: ppl have only so many sick days, so they medicate and send kids to school with all manner of cold and waning flu symptoms since forever. it's shitty but it's common.

Aren't you a lawyer?

You can't see the slippery slope issue with giving the government the power to punish people for being sick?

being infected with CV-19 means you are sick

Never in history have people with no symptoms been called sick. The term has lost its meaning in 2020.

just because you're asymptomatic doesn't mean that you're not sick. it just means you don't feel sick

That's embarrassing.

I’m a pretty Covid skeptical person but this kind of foolishness deserves Singapore style treatment: public thrashings.

again, strawman

being sick isn't the problem. it is how selfishly people act after knowing they are (or are highly likely to be) sick

When I got the swine flu at lsu I had to drop a class because they wouldn't let me make up an exam and I got an automatic letter grade reduction in another for missing 4 classes.

Idk, maybe we should have sued the person that went into my Grandpas nursing home with the flu & put him in the hospital last year

I don’t understand why people cannot be responsible for their own actions, if you are worried about yourself or your family then stay home or stay away from elderly & sickly family

It’s not fricking complicated

no. pulling your healthy kid from a school that's experiencing flu run through it isnt excused until that kid shows symptoms.

then you have to pull them until 24hrs after no fever.

Testing more people helps identify cases. The only way that is bad is if you are running for president and want it to go away.
