Yes, Shreveport/Bossier offer so much more in the way of culture and opportunities.

Texas is a super stage now with manufacturing, tech, natural resources, and finance. They trade more with Mexico than all the other states combined and that matters with nafta 2.0. Texas needs labor and everything there is relatively cheap Tull the californians complete their frick up of the state. Anyone who doesn't already have a good thing in Louisiana should absolutely be in Texas

Louisiana is the way that it is because of the people and culture. The vast majority of the population south of Alexandria values “one of us” above all else. Couple that value with a culture of corruption and you get a very inhospitable business climate. Whenever there is a glimmer of hope for new industry it is quickly bled dry and run off. Well, you people vote for it; so how you want it…

My state needs a strict one out, one in rule. Conservatives get free admittance.

2 things that stand out to me here.

quote:

Louisiana does fairly well, in 17th place, when it comes to keeping and attracting college grads compared to other states, according to a paper published in the National Bureau of Economic Research and an analysis by the Washington Post last year.

States such as New Hampshire, Vermont and West Virginia, for example, experience the worst brain drain in the U.S. Unsurprisingly, states with large cities – New York, California, Illinois, Texas – pull graduates from all over the country.

everyone seems to be heading to the cities.

our biggest population lose is because of katrina. plain and simple but this is also interesting:

quote:

Excluding the New Orleans MSA, those 55 and older were the second largest age range to leave the state.

older people moving our.

Pretty much anyone working in the tech, financial, or non oil/ag fields, head elsewhere. Texas, nashville, Atlanta, Carolinas etc.

LA is only getting worse.

You know you’d rather be in Utah, Florida, or Tennessee

not wrong. Maybe things will change later in life but Texas with my career skill set is what pays.

Or be tied to staying in Louisiana for a certain number of years or you pay it back.

Or TOPS comes with a stipulation that you stay in state for a period of time after graduation.

Three of my four moved to Virginia. If I can convince my husband to move, my son will move with us. Two of my siblings moved years ago; the other one is talking about Tennessee when they retire. A friend of mine has lost three of her children to other states. Of all the people I used to know in the 65 years I've been here, three good friends are left.

The infrastructure here is garbage. Look at the traffic in BR by itself.

Also, the lawyer situation here. Insurance is so high here cause of the constant need to sue.

Plus, look at New Orleans itself. Not just one of the most dangerous cities in the country but top 10 in the world. With the democratic mentality in BR and Nola, it’s not gonna get better.
