Why spend money on an English literature class? What career value am I getting from that?
Seriously?

what do you mean a final decision? PSLF has never changed and is still active.
They're scrutinizing to make sure people are working for legitimate organizations/companies/agencies, but nothing has changed about it.
PSLF has been on hold for several borrowers because of the particular plan they may have been enrolled in (SAVE for example or IBR) has been tied up in court.
There's folks who are 3-4 payments away from meeting PSLF but cannot make payments right now because of the court injunction/freeze. Because of that they're not getting forgiveness, it's just in limbo.

Yeah, why teach populations outside of that how to critically analyze literature. What good would that do?

A bunch of retards that can’t read or write would think English lit is useless

Now if they wanted to argue the elimination of X number of electives required for a degree, I'd be onboard for it.

With 2 headed to college this fall, how about we first look at the cost to go to college.
Well, when you have more administrators than actual professors at most universities, I think you've found your problem.

My loans were forgiven last year, once they hit 25 years.
For those that don't understand IBR.
Graduated with 34k in debt.
Paid back over 60k over those 25 years.
Balance was 58k went it was forgiven.
I was not allowed to refinance, unless I went private which removed all protections and no more forgiveness, which is the purpose of the plan.

It's a common theme to try to lay the wastelands that is these states at the feet of one demo. Clearly a defense mechanism.

What are we going to end up doing to fix this issue?
Garnish wages until every f*cking cent is paid off. These deadbeats can forgo their three exotic vacations per year, their $10 café lattes, and their mani/pedis. They can start eating at home instead of dining out every other night and start sponging off of their parents instead of the f*cking taxpayers. It's their parents that created these entitled little f*cks. Let them pay for their spoiled little fricking brats.

With no indication of whether the Trump admin is going to continue the “PSLF buyback” option of the Biden admin. Good fun, had by all

What the heck was your interest rate and term? And what was your degree in? Did you not have any concept of paying a little extra principal every month?

I don’t know how it works these days, but I took English lit in high school.
I didn’t take a literature class in college. I took composition.
I would argue that most people actually didn’t take English lit in college. Not when I was at LSU.

No one believes you went to college

Government needs to acknowledge its role in creating this debacle. Free money has directly contributed to the out of control cost of college degrees over the last 30 years saddling generations with debt before they even have productive jobs.
I’m not saying forgiveness or cancellation, but I think they have to at least go to low/zero interest and put something together to force schools to focus on education and not “academic excellence fees” that just inflate costs and allow for more and more largess.

Comp is what, 1001 or 1002? “English Lit” would be a bit too general, but I know I took a 2000 level fiction course to fill a requirement basket.

First they must address why there are so many "graduates" that are unable to pay back their loans.
Totally agree, but the article is click bait as delinquent and unable to pay back are vastly different things. How many 20 somethings are behind on a credit card?
