AI has the ability to ruin peoples' lives with these deep fakes. Imagine vengeful teenage boys and girls using it to create a video to show that little Julie isn't the angel she "pretends" to be: she's in fact a slut who makes videos of herself having sex with other guys. The amount of bullying and damage to that girl's psyche would be enough to drive her to self-harm. I don't know how you prevent it from happening but with AI tools getting more advanced and easy to use, this stuff is going to happen more and more frequently.
+1. I would not want to be a teenager in this day and age. The fakes are going to cause so much damage in personal attacks like this but also on the political and pop-culture scene. You can’t believe anything g you see anymore and the tech is only going to get better. Definitely a cause of concern and no doubt that suicides are going to be the result in some cases. The deep fakes are going to cause so much hurt for a lot of future victims.

They reportd the little girl. In the video her lawyer said the DA declined charges.
Why wasn’t the perpetrator disciplined?
What backwater BS.

Yeah. Ory has to be gearing up for a bid for public office. Not that anyone would vote for him.

The only crime I see is she stopped hitting the boy.

Didn’t melania and Ted Cruz push for the take it down act?
Which criminalizes deep fake revenge porn?
The student should face criminal charges.

They do not have a choice and have violated state law as a mandated reporter by not immediately calling authorities and filing a written report. Failure to report can result in jail time.

After watching that video exchange I’m fricking disgusted with adults and to be frank the fricking women on that board are horrible.. The rigidity of their decision making is disgusting and I hope the family sues the frick out of that board just to expose a few of the bitches on that board.. the school should be sued to oblivion not in search of money but in forcing them to be exposed for the cowards they’ve shown to be..
What happen ed to common sense.. suspend the girl for a day and suspend the boy for much longer But once again. People want to be a Nice person, not a Good person

It's exactly like blaming guns for murder, except that 2nd Amendment absolutism defeats any civil or criminal exposure for a gun manufacturer.
We recognize there are limits to 1st Amendment Free Speech, and making porn without consent is one of those well recognized limits. Making child porn is one of those well recognized limits.
So while the factual scenario is hard to distinguish, the legal frame work results in a different outcome.

And the AI company should be prosecuted and be shut down for a source code that clearly allows CP to be generated and is obviously being used for that purpose as we speak
I know there has already been debate about AI CP being considered 'not CP' because it is AI.

I hope my daughter would've beaten his arse too. School administrators and their "zero tolerance" bullshite is garbage. Everything isn't black and white. This just conveniently takes it out of their hands because they're all pussies.

No lawyer here but after watching that video, I would have taken a different defense angle. It would seem reasonable to me that the girl was attempting to stop the abuser from further abuse rather than assaulting him. IMO, if he was actively showing the image when she attempted to stop him from doing so, that's self defense. Again, I'm sure someone can come up with ten ways that can be argued but if she was attempting to stop the abuse then she was absolutely justified. The defense attorney's did not communicate that well.

lol the school board won’t comment due to federal privacy guidelines but they allowed sexual harassment of a 13 yo.

I couldn't count the coin flips in that meeting. Nobody seemed to be prepared on the facts of the issue or the facts of the original hearing for expulsion. Nobody seemed to know the initial punishment. Nobody seemed to know the standard for the original offense. Nobody seemed to know what could be done to undo it.

We got in fist fights in school. Maybe a one day suspension so long as we chilled and it was not usual behavior. This child was expelled with no prior issues.
Is the district policy to expel all students who are involved in a fight? If not that makes no sense.
