When I was in college we used to go to indoor track meets at the Birmingham crossplex a lot. We’d leave Monroe at like 5 am. Go compete then comeback to Monroe. Usually back around 1/2 am.
One week we’re coming back and there was some sort of shooting or some shite near Tuscaloosa. We sat in one spot in the highway for damn near 3 hours on a charter bus. Didn’t get back to Monroe until 5 am on a Friday. First words out of our coaches mouth “I’m doing class checks you better be in class if you have one” and I had a 9 am biology class. Not a fun experience at all.
