I wouldn't believe anything these models are showing intensity wise until it's over water. It looks like it's going to be sloppy to me and you might get the occasional band that has high gusts. I don't think it will be too bad wind wise. Power outages would happen even if it was a depression by landfall.

Plus, it appears the Amite is very low at the moment...

Amite River stage

If I'm reading this right, that is historically low.

It’s not low where I am. Not high either, but definitely not low.

And it looks good. But not for long.

No it wouldn’t. I’ve lived in the Comite/Amite bullseye for 30+ years. The creeks and rivers would rise, but you wouldn’t see any significant flooding. It would be very minor if any at all.

Any thoughts on when/if MSY airport would close? Supposed to fly in and land Sunday morning.

I'm surprised there's been no State/ City closings so far.

Will be interesting to see how many because many people may still be working from home.

That’s a lot of rain and if the south winds blow for any long period of time it could mean some problems.

Just jumping in and I am sure it has been discussed so I apologize in advance. What are we looking at in Baton Rouge?

It’s extremely hard to tell. 20 miles east could put Baton Rouge into the calm or 20 miles more westward and it could put Baton Rouge in the worst. Nobody will know until this happens. It’s gonna have to be a real time call to be honest.
