Yeah thats not normal on these feeder band tornadoes, is it?
Normal is kind of a tricky word with storms. It really depends on the mesoscale setup any particular rotation develops within. There's plenty of shear right now to keep them spinning if they can get going. Some of these storms over AL are also fairly isolated in nature. That's going to be an issue through the evening and into the early morning hours as the remnants of Ida clear the area.

Boat knows his shite and is working on becoming a met. He just doesn't throw his opinions/observations out as freely as some of us.
My posts are confusing because I’ll hit you with a fantastic reference/gif/meme or comedy then the next page hit you with the serious impacts post.

Every dang big hurricane, we all say this is it, they're done after this one. And I swear every single one, it never looks as bad as we thought it would be in GI
depends though. So like holly beach never fully recovered after rita. it was essentially the western part of the states GI. the Last place on earth like GI. But rita, then ike just 2 years later made it so expensive to build there that only the multimillion dollar camps are built now and still many of them got it pretty good after laura.
its hard to keep rebuilding over and over.
what needs to happen is all of south louisiana needs a 30-40 year break. we got that between audrey and betsy to katrina and rita.
I know andrew was bad but not like it could have been.

an apartment building in Kenner near Esplanade Mall burned to the ground b/c the FD didn't have the water pressure to fight the fire
investigation in underway... but someone using a generator incorrectly seems to have the lead in the cause of said fire

How many motherfrickers are on this board that are or are becoming met?
I just thought we had a bunch of nerdy baws who were really into weather but not psycho enough to drive through these things like Reed and Jeff.
It's almost like we have our own TD Stormteam Weather Lab.

One thing that always amazes me in the aftermath of major hurricanes is that you can clearly see the new and old construction in heavily damaged areas. As more hurricanes bring more damage, the new construction built under more strict building codes becomes more prevalent. There's good and bad in that, like you mentioned, but it at least ensures what is rebuilt stands a better chance of surviving the next one.
