How the frick people just forget about Laura and Rita I'll never understand other than the fact that it's frickin NOLA.
I understand your frustration. But if you include Katrina these were four different storms. All bad. Probably bc Ida just sat on us and didn’t lose a lot of power. Just spit balling man, I don’t know…but I definitely understand the frustration. Living in Southern Louisiana we all get it. Not really worth having a duck measuring contest over it. Know what I mean? Just help whoever needs it, brother

More help is heading your way. I saw several small convoys heading South.

Can someone help you upload your pictures?

You'd have a point if the ones who choose poorly weren't most often the ones who beg government for help. That's a personal accountability problem. You can't embrace the personal responsibility of making the original decision, then shuck the accountability when it becomes clear you made a poor decision.

They did everything they could to communicate the severity of this storm without calling for a mandatory evacuation. Which isn’t even something she controls.
I evacuated and wish I didn’t because I wish I were there to survey my properties. But another part of me is happy to be where I am. There really isn’t a right or wrong answer. Gather information and make the best decision for you & your family.

i dunno why people are downvoting you because you are right.

look i understand sometimes LE can be up there with Mingo on the douche scale but he isnt wrong.
why the frick do you need to the government to tell you to leave.
now LE i will say not calling the mandatory pretty much fricks people on hotel money from insurance, but i get why they didnt. Dont agree with it, but understand it.
she still sucks...but ultimately she can make up for pretty much years of suckage if she handles this well.

Maybe Hwy 1 on the other side of the river, but I've heard that's impassible in some places too.
Possible. The apps will tell you what roads are closed if you zoom into them. If it’s not life or death; just wait another day.

what people in swla need to understand is more than likely IDA is going to get the much needed fed dollars the area has been looking for. its more than likely going to be across the whole south LA area.
no need for a pissing contest
laura and ida are sister storms just like katrina and rita were.

Honest question as I have no idea .. who calls for a mandatory evacuation in each parish? Emergency Preparedness I guess but wouldn't they consult together?
Glad you left and totally understand wanting to be home to check for damage.

usually parish president, police jury or parish council in coordination with the mayor and emergency preparedness people. Also with input from the state.
dunno about nola specifically cause they have to do contraflow if they call it.
